Diego Brandao meets RFA champ Brian Ortega at UFC Fight Night 5/31
Tue Apr 08, 2014 3:29 pm
TUF 14 winner Diego Brandao will welcome RFA featherweight champion Brian Ortega to the UFC in a featherweight clash at the UFC Fight Night event on 5/31.
Another bout has been added to the UFC Fight Night card on May 31 in Brazil. Diego Brandao, one of the winners of TUF 14, will welcome RFA featherweight champion Brian Ortega to the UFC. Combate.com broke news of the fight, although the UFC have yet to make an official announcement.
Brandao (18-9) will be looking to bounce back in to the win column following a first round KO loss at the hands of Dustin Poirier at UFC 168. Brandao missed weight for that loss, a loss that snapped a three fight win streak for the Brazilian. Brandao was scheduled to fight Will Chope at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Henderson 2 but Chope was released by the promotion on the day of the fight.
Ortega (8-0) becomes the latest fighter from the Resurrection Fighting Alliance to make the move up to the UFC. Ortega was last in action at RFA 12 in January where he picked up a split decision win over Keoni Koch to win the promotion's featherweight title.
The bout will joined a fast filling card for the May 31 event in Brazil which is now expected to be headlined by former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and Stipe Miocic.
