Mitch Chilson misses weight due to injury - OneFC Green Lit
Fri Jun 22, 2012 5:25 pm
OneFC Destiny of Warriors is all systems go. The official weight check was held early this morning in KL, Malaysia.
Two fighters were off point, Mitch Chilson who came in a whole 1KG over and Eric Kelly who was .6KG over. Ironically, these two were former competitors with one another. Eric Kelly eventually made his required weight limit, thus no penalty will be invoked upon him.
Evolve MMA head coach Chatri Sityodtong has reported to MMA-Japan from Malaysia that Chilson suffered an injury in camp and was unable to cut weight due to the fact he was unable to run for the past two weeks.
When contacted about the missed weight, Chatri had this to say to MMA-Japan:
"We did our best with the situation at hand. Mitch was injured at the tail end of training camp and it made the weight cut process more difficult than normal. We apologize for missing weight. Mitch did his best. It won't happen again."
Chilson, who is extremely popular as he is the fighting face of OneFC is going through with the fight, regardless of the injury suffered in camp. It will be interesting to see how the injury translates in his fight as Chilson is in need of a big win to keep from a 2 fight losing streak. As we reported before, Chilson had looked extremely sharp when we saw him in training, prior to his injury.
The weigh-ins saw some fighters' tempers flare. Marcos Escobar and Rodrigo Praxedas looked very heated as the two faced off.
OneFC Destiny of Warriors takes place at 8AM EST Saturday morning in the USA on PPV. You can purchase the card here: http://onefc.com/live-streaming.html
