Fighters with the most top 10 wins - List
Wed Feb 22, 2012 7:50 am
I caught this on PooPuppy.com. I put something like this together for HW's when I was defending Fedor over at Linker. I haven't got a chance to go thru the whole thing yet. Let me know what your thoughts are...

The research took me a lot of time. i just wanted to know which current fighter had the most quality wins, it's not about who is the best p4p or whatever.
A top 10 win counts only when you fight him on the weight where he is ranked at.
example: fedor defeated lindland(ranked mw). it doesn't count because he fought fedor at hw.
anderson's ww wins count because he fought them at their own weight.

I dont care for it because although it does show Fedors acomplishments, it also has Anderson and gsp at the very top when those 2 have face some of the weakest oppositon ever due to most of their wins coming after 07 when zuffa controlled the rankings. So pretty much any zuffa guy after early 07 is going to have a advantage. Also look at chucks wins 4 wins are over the same 3 guys, randy randy renato renato tito tito, I mean all he was doing in the early zuffa era was fighting the same 3 guys mixed in with american cans. This is my opinion.

This list is based on rankings from reputable sites only: sherdog
Fedor dominated the top guys for many years while Anderson and GSP haven´t been overly impressive. I think there´s a difference between a "win" and a WIN.

well sherdog was decent untill 07, but anything after is highly questionable.Johan Lofgren wrote:This list is based on rankings from reputable sites only: sherdog

Yes I actually thought their rankings were alright. When Zuffa murdered PRIDE everything changed and it got even worse after the Strikeforce murder.PRIDE NEVER DIE wrote:well sherdog was decent untill 07, but anything after is highly questionable.Johan Lofgren wrote:This list is based on rankings from reputable sites only: sherdog

Well it is not about who's best but about the numbers. I found this a very interesting research to see.
It also proves that Fedor is one of the guys that fought top 10 the most in the sport, for those fags who are always saying he didn't.

Don't know anything about the other ones but it's a good thing they left out questionable sites/systems like.....Fightmatrix and....MMA ELO, and left reputable sites/systems like.....Sherdog and.....uh............
....Black belt magazine.
Question. Exactly what kind of a system does Sherdog (and the rest) use to make their rankings
besides some guy watching some fights and deciding "This guy should be ranked here,
this guy should be ranked there."
Another example of rankings misused to determine the quality of a fighter,
when that's not their purpose at all.

Top 10 wins would look completely different using rankings from somewhere like ELO MMA. Plus some of those, like Anderson's win over Belfort couldn't be top 10, Belfort hadn't even fought at MW in what? 2 years? Interesting none the less, thanks for posting.

Fedor should be ranked 2nd on the list with 13 top ten wins not 12. I think Matt Lindland was was a top 10 fighter when Fedor reversed him mid-air, Uchimada'd him, and the submitted him by arm bar.

It's very interesting but flawed.
I think in reality it's Fedor #1 and Aoki #2
