*This ranking system includes fighters that are not under exclusive contract to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

*Top level fighters that leave the UFC may be ranked in subsequent rankings.

*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC will be removed from the rankings.

*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.

*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division except under certain rare circumstances where the number two ranked fighter clearly deserves to move into the number one ranking position.  

*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.

*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent in the rankings after a victory or a loss.

* A fighter can move up a maximum of three spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked below him; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title or a tournament championship with the victory.

* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.

*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.

*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.

*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.

*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.

*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.

*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion
last fought in.

I still don't like Rampage, King Mo and Ortiz in the light heavyweight rankings. They just feel like old wash outs to me who can be beaten by any new up and comer.

Yeah, he's dropped to the last spot and hanging on by a thread. He may be out soon. If a solid unranked LHW gets a good win this month, he may be replaced.

King Mo came into the rankings as the top LHW. He had some wins but dropped two to the new top LHW Newton. Page came into the rankings in the top 5 and then beat Mo so that moved him up where he is.

I thought Tito's finish of the then number 1 MW earned him a lower end top 10 spot.

Page has looked impressive lately and his losses in UFC were to some of the best. I think Newton will take him out though if they fight. Mo has not been fairing too well and may get passed up soon.

I moved him up into the ranking contenders 2 spots (top 13) with that nice finishing win.  I think he should still be below Awad. It's a toss up for top 12 with Ramazan who finished Kitaoka. He could be top 5 with a win over Gaethje which is the fight that makes the most sense next.  I think Gaethje will take him out though.  That kid is impressive.

Good overall rankings. Just a few things I have a problem with.

Kenny Garner shouldn't be on this list. Even if he did get two wins over Guram and a win over Malikov, he's on a 4 fight losing streak. I would have Konstantin Erokhin or Denis Smoldarev in his place.

Mike Kyle is way too high. Yes his recent losses are to solid competition in Mousasi, Arlovski, and Rumble, but his only solid victories in recent memory are to Marcos Rogerio Pezao and Rafael Cavalcante years ago. Also agree that M'Pumbu is a undersized 205er and won't make it near the top of the division any time soon. I would replace both with Jason Brilz (who is undefeated since leaving UFC and found a nice little niche in Titan FC) and the winner of the Luiz Lins/Liam Mcgeary Bellator tournament fight.

Jay Silva got the best of Materla once in their trilogy, but that shouldn't be all it takes to get him ranked. He lost the rubber match, and is 4-6 since being cut from UFC years ago. I like how Michail Tsarev has done since being cut from Bellator so he would be my choice to replace him. I'd also give Cage Warriors MW champ Jack Hermansson a nod.

I would rate guys like Ryan Ford, Nicolas Dalby, and Danny Roberts higher at 170 than some of the other contenders. Michael Page hasn't fought a real test yet so it's tough for me to put him that high. I'd still put guys like Amoussou and Zaromskis above him in that Bellator division.

155 is pretty good, but i think Luiz Buscape should be in the mix. He's beaten some good veteran names in his last couple fights.

Yokota and Romero are way too high. I don't recognize any of the fighters Yokota has beaten in his run other than Maruyama and he's 12-9. Takaya is a good win for Romero, but 8-5 shouldn't get you on this list. Jadamba should be back in the mix after winning his One FC debut. Des Green or Goiti Yamauchi would be other choices for me.

Thanks for all the comments.  They will be considered as I make updates.  Yeah, Garner may drop off soon after those fighters get their next win.

Kyle's win over ranked Wiuff at the time jumped him up in the rankings.  He'll probably be getting passed up soon.  M'Pumbu will probably be replaced after your suggested fighters fights happen.

Silva did get there with his win over ranked  Materla.  He too will probably get passed up soon as he has been. Similar with Romero, he got ranked after finishing ranked Takaya.

Real good comments and I will consider all these as fighters win/lose and pass up some of these guys.

I'm thinking Luiz "Buscape" Firmino at LW in the contenders since Eddie will be removed as suggested by nathanli above.  Thoughts?

I still think he would be a great addition. I also think that Alex Sarnavskiy could be on this list with another victory.

I still think he would be a great addition. I also think that Alex Sarnavskiy could be on this list with another victory.

Buscape will be going in.  Sarnavskiy is close, I agree. He was ranked before but got passed up after losses but could make a return.

Mike Kyle is way too high. Yes his recent losses are to solid competition in Mousasi, Arlovski, and Rumble, but his only solid victories in recent memory are to Marcos Rogerio Pezao and Rafael Cavalcante years ago. Also agree that M'Pumbu is a undersized 205er and won't make it near the top of the division any time soon. I would replace both with Jason Brilz (who is undefeated since leaving UFC and found a nice little niche in Titan FC) and the winner of the Luiz Lins/Liam Mcgeary Bellator tournament fight.

Jay Silva got the best of Materla once in their trilogy, but that shouldn't be all it takes to get him ranked. He lost the rubber match, and is 4-6 since being cut from UFC years ago. I like how Michail Tsarev has done since being cut from Bellator so he would be my choice to replace him. I'd also give Cage Warriors MW champ Jack Hermansson a nod.

I would rate guys like Ryan Ford, Nicolas Dalby, and Danny Roberts higher at 170 than some of the other contenders. Michael Page hasn't fought a real test yet so it's tough for me to put him that high. I'd still put guys like Amoussou and Zaromskis above him in that Bellator division.

155 is pretty good, but i think Luiz Buscape should be in the mix. He's beaten some good veteran names in his last couple fights.

Yokota and Romero are way too high. I don't recognize any of the fighters Yokota has beaten in his run other than Maruyama and he's 12-9. Takaya is a good win for Romero, but 8-5 shouldn't get you on this list. Jadamba should be back in the mix after winning his One FC debut. Des Green or Goiti Yamauchi would be other choices for me.

I'm not trying to dog on you because I know you put a lot of work into this. Just a few things I think you should consider for future ranking lists.

You'll be seeing some of your suggestions in the rankings next month based on fights that occured and fighters leaving the global MMA scene.

A lot of big fights coming up! Excited to see things get mixed up.
