Dec 6th at the Victoria Warehouse, Manchester will see the return of Colin "The Freakshow" Fletcher to the BAMMA Cage

UK-based MMA promotion BAMMA have confirmed Oli 'The Spartan' Thompson vs Brett 'The Spartan' McDermott will taking place at BAMMA 17 at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, England on December 6th.


Oli Thompson originally made his name as a strongman and reached the finals of the IFSA World Championships. Having competed in pro MMA in the heavyweight division since his career started in 2009, going on to win the UCMMA heavyweight championship and compete for the UFC, Oli will be making his light heavyweight debut against McDermott.


"I'm so pumped up to be making my debut at 205lb at BAMMA 17," said Thompson. "I'm motivated and hungry, that can only mean trouble for Brett. Nobody is the division is as powerful and explosive as I am."


Fighting out of Flex MMA in Manchester, Brett ‘The Spartan’ McDermott has a pro MMA record of 2-1-0, with both wins via TKO in the first round. This is McDermott's first appearance at BAMMA since BAMMA 12 where he conceded defeat to Thomas Denham via second-round submission.


McDermott said, "Oli Thompson has fought some of the biggest names on some of the biggest shows in the MMA circuit, to fight him on a show as great as BAMMA is going to be the highlight of my MMA career. He's a mountain of a man which I'm ready to climb to try and gain the victory."
