At KSW 47 we will see light heavyweight champ Tomasz Narkun (16-2) step up to heavyweight to take on the reigning and defending champion Phil De Fries (16-6) at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland on March 23.
Both fighters had a stellar 2018 in KSW going undefeated at 2-0, respectively. Tomasz Narkun made history by becoming the first man ever to beat the legend Mamed Khalidov in KSW when he submitted him in emphatic fashion in the final round of their instant classic at KSW 42. Then in the rematch at KSW 46 he secured at decision win over Khalidov in another epic battle.
Meanwhile, Phil De Fries entered KSW in flying form and captured the heavyweight title at KSW 43 with an upset win over imposing KO artist Michal Andryszak. The Sunderlan native then defended the title on home soil at KSW 45 in Wembley Arena with a submission win over former longtime champ Karol Bedorf, a contest where De Fries once again saw himself a massive underdog.
Now establishing himself as true force in the heavyweight division, the UK’s number one ranked heavyweight fighter is looking forward to defending his title against Narkun.
Also on the card, former welterweight champions Borys Mankowski (19-7-1) and Dricus Du Plessis (12-2) will finally meet at KSW 47.
The pair were originally scheduled to face each other at KSW 41 but a late injury to Du Plessis forced him from the card. It has been a long road since for both fighters. Mankowski lost the title at KSW 41 against late notice replacement Roberto Soldic and has been out due to injury since, while Du Plessis would go on to win and then lose the 170lb crown in two explosive contests against Soldic.
Prior to losing the title Borys Mankowski was the longest reigning welterweight champion in KSW history defending his title against the likes of David Zawada, Jesse Taylor, and John Maguire. ’The Tasmanian Devil’ also competed opposite Mamed Khalidov in the main event of the historic KSW 39 card in front of almost 60,000 people. Now the 29-year-old will be looking to get back to winning ways and capture the title once again.
However, Dricus Du Plessis will be looking to spoil Mankowski’s return party and work himself back to the title picture. The South African has emerged as one of the top prospects in the world at welterweight. Despite being only 24-years-old he has already become a two-weight EFC champion and established himself as the top ranked P4P fighter from the African continent.

Nice video. If Narkun wins this title, I would like to see him fight Bader or Jiri to be the top HW/LHW outside UFC and second in the world only to Cormier and Jones.

An injury has forced Dricus Du Plessis from his scheduled fight with Borys Mankowski (19-7-1) at KSW 47 on March 23 and now Northern Ireland’s Norman Parke (25-6-1) will step in.
Parke and Mankowski have some rocky history in KSW. There was controversy after Parke’s fight with lightweight champ Mateusz Gamrot at KSW 40 in Dublin when the Northern Irishman seemingly shoved Mankowski, who is one of Gamrot’s main cornermen, following the hot tempered fight and a scuffle ensued between Parke and Gamrot’s corner before all being separated.
32-year-old Parke came into KSW in 2017 following a successful stint in the UFC and off the back of two straight wins on the European scene. He immediately challenged Mateusz Gamrot to the lightweight title at the history KSW 39 event in front of 57,766 people but was on the losing end to a decision in a very close fight. He then received an immediate rematch against Gamrot which lead to the above incident with Mankowski. This fight ended in a no contest after Parke suffered an eye-poke in the second round.
Since then The Ultimate Fighter winner secured victories at KSW 43 over Polish veteran Lukasz Chlewicki and a win over Irish rival Myles Price in Belfast outside the promotion. Now he returns to KSW and steps up to welterweight and gets the fight he has been calling for since KSW 40.
This fight marks the long anticipated return of Borys Mankowski. The former welterweight champ hasn’t been in action since he dropped the title to Roberto Soldic in late 2017. Prior to this Mankowski rose to become one of the best welterweights in Europe. He captured the title at KSW 27 and subsequently defend it against UFC veterans John Maguire, Jesse Taylor, and David Zawada, dispatching each of them in dominant fashion.
Now the 29-year-old is aiming to come back and work his way towards the title he held for over three and a half years.
KSW 47 features a Champ vs. Champ headliner between heavyweight champ Phil De Fries (16-6) and light heavyweight champ Tomasz Narkun (16-2), a co-main event contest between Five Time World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski (12-6) and Olympic Gold Medalist Weightlifter Szymon Kolecki (6-1).

Earlier this week it was announced that Olympic Gold Medalist Satoshi Ishii (19-8-1) signed a multi-fight contract with KSW and now he looks set to make his promotional debut at KSW 47 at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland on March 23.
Welcoming him into the promotion will be former heavyweight champion Fernando Rodrigues Jr. (12-4). The Brazilian has earned a fierce reputation as being an aggressive fighter and has amassed ten stoppage victories, eight via TKO, so far in his career. This includes his second round TKO win over the longest reigning KSW heavyweight champion Karol Bedorf at KSW 37 to capture title.
The 31-year-old behemoth then dropped the title and suffered back to back defeats at KSW 39 and KSW 41, respectively, before bouncing back with a win over former KSW title challenger and UFC veteran James McSweeney outside the promotion last year.
After winning a gold medal in judo at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Satoshi Ishii turned his attention to MMA in 2009. Since then he has registered wins against the likes of Tim Sylvia, Jeff Monson, Pedro Rizzo, Heath Herring, and even holds a win over current KSW heavyweight champion Phil De Fries.
The 32-year-old grappling master enters KSW having won his past four fights, all via first round stoppage, and now has his sights set on taking the KSW heavyweight division by storm.
