Will Campuzano vs. Jimmy Flick flyweight title fight added to Legacy FC 16
Mon Sep 03, 2012 4:31 pm
Will Campuzano (10-4) and Jimmy Flick (5-0) will give it another try.
After their initial fight was scratched, the 125-pounders have been rebooked for Legacy Fighting Championship 16, where they'll fight for the organization's inaugural flyweight title.
The event takes place Dec. 14 at Allen Events Center in Allen, Texas, and the main card airs on AXS TV.
Campuzano initially was slated to fight Chad Robichaux for the vacant belt at Legacy FC 12 in July. However, a tough weight cut and kidney issues forced Robichaux out of the bout a day prior, and the title fight was pulled from the card altogether. Campuzano then was slated to fight Flick at Legacy FC 13 this past month, but Campuzano was forced off the card with an injury.
Campuzano, a former UFC and WEC bantamweight, was bounced from Zuffa following back-to-back losses to Nick Pace and Chris Cariaso in early 2011. However, he got back in the win column with a first-round submission victory over Randy Hinds in April 2011, and most recently, he knocked out Joshua Sampo with a head kick at a regional show in May.
Flick, who's just two years into his pro career, submitted Adan de la Garza in June at a regional show in Texas. The Oklahoma-born and Texas-based wrestler, who also went 7-0 as an amateur, now has three submission wins in five career pro victories. He made his pro debut at Bellator 20, where he topped Humberto DeLeon via decision.
Also slated for Legacy FC 16 is a bantamweight bout between Nelson Salas (4-0) and Eli Tamez (4-0). The fighters first met as amateurs, and Tamez won via first-round submission.
