Masvidal can give Gil some problems standing, but I expect Meledez to take the decision, maybe even a TKO..

Masvidal impressed me with his last two performances and he gave Daley a tough fight. It´s not impossible for Masvidal to win but I´ll put my money on Melendez.

As much as I like Masvidal Gil is going to be too much for him. It is remarkable how much Gil improves after each fight and I really think the sky is the limit for him. Masvidal has a chance of course but I think Gil has the potential to reach Gomi/Aoki GOAT status.

^ This is true. He made incredible strides skillwise. There could be an argument for Gil being #1 LW at the moment. The Aoki and Kawajiri victories are on par with Frankie Edgar's BJ and Maynard wins, no doubt.

Masvidal is one of the most underrated fighters in the world at any weight, and he can definitely beat Melendez
This fight will no doubt be competitive, I think Melendez wins by a controversial decision

Masvidal put up a good fight but he was too afraid to stand in the pocket with Melendez. His counter jabs just didn't do it. I still think Masvidal has the tools to become champ as he's still young. Plus has really good movement and avoids taking shots well with his lenght. Masvidal is legit.

if Masvidal fought more like how Andre Ward fought earlier tonight then he might have had more success. they were saying about Andre Ward is how he was staying the counter puncher but pressing forward. i understand now after the post fight interview in the cage how Gil was saying that the TD was never there though because Masvidal never really pressed forward. if Masvidal wanted to win that fight he would've needed to take the risk in pressing the action against Gil more. since Masvidal didn't push more, Gil had to prove to himself he didn't need to look for the TD and could and did win the fight standing. props to Gil for not letting Masvidal take his belt from him even though it was bad stylistically for Gil.
it sucks now because we all know the UFC would never send Edgar over to Strikeforce to try and fight for Gil's belt and that the only way Melendez vs. Edgar will ever happen is under the stupid UFC alla some Nick Diaz situational bullshit.

lol
Joe Silva: "hey Kenny, we finally have another title fight for you to choke in!"
Florini: "awesome! when do i fight Cruz for the 135 lb title?"
Joe Silva: "no no, we don't want you to cut anymore weight Kenny, you're starting to scare people with that dehydrated string bean look. anyways we want you to go over and fight Gilbert for the Strikeforce LW title!"
Florini: "... but that's not a UFC belt! call me when the Flyweight title is created. "
