GLORY teams up with DREAM to stage 'DREAM 18 - Special NYE 2012'...

The upstart GLORY promotion will team up with DREAM to stage the traditional New Year's Eve show in Japan.

According to a GLORY official, details of the partnership will be announced at Thursday's press conference in Japan. The official would not confirm or deny whether the partnership would extend past the NYE show.

The event, which will be held at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Dec. 31, will be entitled "GSI Presents DREAM 18 - Special NYE 2012." Several bouts are also expected to be announced at Thursday's press conference.

GLORY, which is owned and operated by Glory Sports International (GSI), is primarily a kickboxing promotion. It made waves earlier this year when it purchased rival promotion It's Showtime.

The promotion's third event is scheduled to take place on Nov. 3 in Rome, Italy, while it's fourth event is slated for Dec. 2 in Japan, which means the organization will hold two combat sports cards in Japan in December.

GLORY's personnel is made up of hedge-fund investors, the sports marketing agency Total Sport Asia and several executives from Golden Glory and the former It's Showtime team.

Glory is the best kickboxing promotion in the world right now so this is great news.

This news is awesome. DREAM/Glory JMMA has to continue beyond this.

Hopefully ONE FC is also part of this NYE event. Victor Cui did mention DREAM when he was asked about a ONE FC NYE JMMA event by Eddie Goldman several days ago and he said nothing was officially planned yet so hopefully they triple cross-promote this event. Glory/DREAM/ONE FC would be sweet. Pull in some DEEP and Pancrase champs and top contenders and this card is epic. Hell, they should invite M-1 to the party as well.

JMMA and kickboxing on NYE is going to be sweet as always.

Is it going to be available with English subtitles or are we going to have to wait for translations?

Regardless, I'm pumped to hear what they have to say. Especially to hear what other organizations or fighters may be involved.

That would be awesome. Hopefully they get a solid opponent for Kharitonov in an MMA fight. M-1 champ Garner/Guram winner would be sweet but that would be close to their scheduled 15 Nov. fight. Still doable though. M-1 brought in Fedor to co-promote the last DREAM NYE show so anything is possible.

What I really like to see is the return of high production value and the kickboxer vs mixed martial artist super fights.
All I hope to see are some solid matches, appearances from top heavyweights (if the Glory Grand Slam will allow it), and a very memorable show that will take this bad taste of not having a single DREAM show this year out of my mouth.

fighters that were not paid ....i think they will not get their money....nice to see a new group aboard....

Im thinking if new guys are the money men behind the scenes chances are guy that didnt get paid wont unless DREAM plans on working with them again.
