Wanderlei Silva returns in 2013, eyes light heavyweight

Silva told Sherdog.com, he wants to come back next year in a new weight class:

"I want to either fight a catchweight bout at 198 pounds or at light heavyweight. At middleweight, I'm very hungry (laughs). Right now, I'm doing weight training and some shadow boxing. I'm kind of on vacation now, paying attention to the family, but next year the Wand is back."

Wand returns in 2013

Wand's home is at 205. Can't wait until he returns.

Indeed. Tough fights for him, but not having to cut so much weight for once will help him immensely, IMO.

Yeah, I agree. It would be cool to see him make one more solid run before he retires.

thats the biggest mistake in silva's carrer...he was a great 205 he was never a good 185 the same shit dan henderson did...

i remember wandy fought cro cop at 226...

Glad hes back at 205 he looked sickly at 185, Wand is my fav fighter of all time, I hope he has a couple more wins in him but I just hope he calls it a day soon and not stick around too long like cro cop seems to be doing. Just sucks I feel his best days are behind him and him moving to america in late 07 really hurt him. People dont get just how much a impact on your day to day life (much less a pro fighter) That kind of move(another country) can do to someone. I still say he would have ko'd Chuck had the match been in PRIDE under full rules. Still hate the fact he fought him during a time of such transition in his life...o well.

But i thought his friend Dana was concerned about his health and didn't want to see him fight anymore. Well i guess he needs someone to headline his shitty, watered down cards, so why not! He may even get a couple of wins, as long as he fights actors and other washed up fighters! Do i smell a Silva-Sonnen grudge match after Jones destroys Chael? Maybe Jones will get 'injured' and Wanderlei will step in to save the card, you never know with the soap opera the UFC has become

he is not suited for 185 i dont care what his record says, he also loose loose to franklin at a catchweigh, so he is 2-3 under 205...but he koed le thats not an acomplishment, scott smith did it also, and he beat bisping in a close fight, but was brutally koed by leben...he is not the same fighter he was at 205 for sure...

For as many times as he has been KO'd after engaging in wars, his wins over Bisping (who now sits close to MW title contention), and Le (Wand was a huge underdog here) are more than impressive.

Lets also not forget how close he was to getting the TKO over Franklin in Brazil.

im a wandy fan....but he has never challenged dana white....dana said you are moving to 185, ok dana,....

wandy asked for belfort and dana gave him franklin again, ok dana...

get cojones and move to 205 again if he feels like it...

at 205 silva would have ktfo franklin not almost koing him but loosing at 185...

I thought that fight against franklin should have been stoped but it wasnt...Also The Leben loss is a heart breaker, no way Wand loses to a guy like that back in his prime.

Nice to see Wanderlei return to 205

I'd rather see Wandy at 205, looks very unhealthy at 185.

Some matches i'd like to see:

Shogun, Maldonado (if he doesn't drop to 185), Jimmo, Kingsbury, Thiago Silva/Nedkov loser.

Wandy should fight for the ONE FC or DREAM LHW title. Wanderlei deserves to be champ again and he belongs in Asia.

Wand please retire.....

Sadly this wont happen, Dana will suck every last dollar he can make out of wand before he cuts him loose, even though hes just a ghost of wand these days.

It will be nice to see him at LHW, but just for a few fights, nothing big. He's not the same anymore. Hopefully he decides to retire after that.

I wish Wanderlei never signed with the UFC after they "bought" PRIDE. Wanderlei could have been the DREAM and ONE FC champion. Wanderlei in KSW would also be epic with his sandstorm entrance in a tank or crane. I feel the same way about all the PRIDE guys.

wandy at 205 looks like his going thru chemotherapy, completely unhealthy...

he was never suited to fight at 185....2-3 under 205 loosing to lesser competition he was accustumed to....

fight 2 more fights at 205 and retired, he has nothing left to prove...
