DREAM to hold 5 MMA shows 5 kickboxing in Japan, talk on Aoki and Bibiano, and MORE Empty DREAM to hold 5 MMA shows 5 kickboxing in Japan, talk on Aoki and Bibiano, and MORE

Mon Oct 29, 2012 7:25 pm
In the press conference, which was held last week, Keiichi Sasahara hit on several topics, many of which we have already written about. Of those that were not written about:

DREAM is interested in possibly working out a deal with OneFC that would see Shinya Aoki and/or Bibiano Fernandes compete with DREAM
GLORY will look to hold 5 GLORY Kickboxing shows and 5 DREAM MMA shows in Japan in 2013
Tatsuya Kawajiri, Satoru Kitaoka, Hiroyuki Takaya, are all 100% on board for NYE 12
Sasahara stated that it is “possible” that Satoshi Ishii could compete when asked by a media member

As we learned last week, Pierre Andurand has taken the reins from the Real Entertainment folks and slapped the GLORY sticker on them. With the intense capital it takes to run a business such as DREAM, and in the part of the world it is run, it will take someone with that kind of capital to keep this gig alive.

More to come, soon!

GLORY/DREAM could be the new K-1/PRIDE. It´s awesome to see kickboxing back on top. GLORY seems to have the right vision to make things happen.

Agreed but DREAM could build into an awesome org. I still have hope in JMMA. It may not be what PRIDE once was but DREAM put on some very awesome events in the past with excellent production. Add soccer kicks and stomps and possibly elbows to that as well as cross-promotion with other orgs. like ONE, DEEP, M-1, Pancrase, WSOF,..., as well as building up new star fighters and Glory/DREAM could be an outstanding org.

Considering that the nye is a GSI show, my optimistic prediction for the mma card is (having Deep fighters plus Aoki/Bibiano) :

Sergey Kharitonov vs Semmy Schilt
Satoshi Ishii vs Mark Miller
Shinya Aoki vs Katsunori Kikuno
Satoru Kitaoka vs Daisuke Nakamura
Hiroyuki Takaya vs Tatsuya Kawajiri
Bibiano Fernandes vs Hideo Tokoro
Tatsuya Mizuno vs Jerome Le Banner
Minowaman vs Jeremy Horn
Tyrone Spong vs Kazuhiro Nakamura
Marloes Coenen vs Amanda Lucas

Bibiano Fernandes vs Hideo Tokoro
Tatsuya Mizuno vs Jerome Le Banner
Minowaman vs Jeremy Horn
Tyrone Spong vs Kazuhiro Nakamura
Marloes Coenen vs Amanda Lucas

That would be sweet. My really really hopeful card is below:

MMA Fights (10 Fights Planned)

DREAM Featherweight Title Fight
Hiroyuki Takaya (DREAM Champion) vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri

ONE FC vs. M-1 Global Lightweight Cross-Promotion Super Fight

Shinya Aoki (ONE FC) vs. Musa Khamanaev (M-1 Champion)

DREAM vs. M-1 Heavyweight Cross-Promotion Super Fight

Sergei Kharitonov vs. Kenny Garner/Guram Gugenishvili Winner (M-1 Champion)

DREAM vs. KSW Middleweight Cross-Promotion Super Fight

Antonio Neto vs. Michal Materla (KSW Champion)

DREAM vs. ONE FC Lightweight Cross-Promotion Super Fight

Satoru Kitaoka vs. Kotetsu Boku (ONE FC Champion)

Bantamweight Cross-Promotion Super Fight

Bibiano Fernandes (ONE FC) vs. Shintaro Ishiwatari (Pancrase Champion)

Heavyweight GP Opening Round (8 Man Tournament) - Heavyweight Title GP

Josh Barnett vs. Semmy Schilt
Todd Duffee vs. Levan Razmadze (DEEP Champion)
Shamil Abdurahimov vs. Jeff Monson
Tim Sylvia vs. Tony Lopez (KOTC Champion)

The Glory fighters should be easy to add on this card if they don't get hurt at the 02 December Glory kickboxing event. Regarding the HW GP for the title, DREAM would have to sign Barnett, Duffee, Razmadze, Abdurahimov, Monson, Sylvia, and Lopez to build a sweet HW division and GP. They have signed DEEP and KOTC champs in the past so this would be in line with that.

Yes, it could. Hopefully they put on a huge event with Glory and ONE FC. ONE FC has to join in on this with their ONE Asia Network partner. Hopefully they deliver on this Network as they have been saying. This would be a great time to show what it's about.

when it comes to JMMA and people announcing this and that take it with a pinch of salt because we all know the interest in japan isnt there! so it doesnt fucking matter who comes in again with the big money they can put on a show or two for a while but after that it will turn into a poor mans DEEP again. That and a complete lack of any new stars coming out of japan right now the sport is dying

JMMA is done!

ONE FC is building new Asian stars in MMA. Boku just won the ONE FC LW title and Kim won the FW title. There are a number of others as well. The more Asian events with DREAM, ONE, Road, URCC,..., the more Asian star fighters will rise up. There is Doo Ho Choi, Sato, and a number of others. There are solid gyms in Asia, like Evolve, Phuket Top Team, Team Lakay,.... I think in time and with the ONE Asia Network, Asian MMA could rise back up.

I'm talking both. JMMA is a big part of Asian MMA and I hope for MMA to improve throughout the whole region including Japan.

Boku, ONE FC LW champ, is Japanese and he just beat Zoro a very solid Brazilian fighter. ONE has other Japanese fighters, like the ones they pull in from DEEP and Pancrase,...
