Christian M’Pumbu defends title against Attila Vegh at Bellator 84 plus hw and fw finals...

Bellator light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu will be making will be making his first title defense on December 14th at Bellator 84 against Attila Vegh.

Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney confirmed the news to TheMMAReport.com after last night’s Bellator 80 post fight press conference.

M’Pumbu (18-4-1) became the first ever Bellator light heavyweight champion when he defeated Rich Hale in the season four tournament. Since winning the tournament in May of last year, he has only fought once and that was a decision lost to Travis Wiuff in a non title fight.

Vegh (28-4) won the 2012 Summer Series light heavyweight tournament to earn this title shot and he has gone 4-0 since entering Bellator earlier this year. In the tournament, he finished two of the three bouts in the first round, which included a TKO win over Wiuff.

Bellator 84 takes place on December 14th in Hammond, Indiana and will also feature the finals in this season heavyweight and featherweight tournaments.

Volkov and Hale is going to be an interesting fight. Volkov seriously needs to work on his TDD. Vinicius was taking him down easily at will so it is possible Hale could do the same and sub. him. If the fight stays standing, I think Volkov will finish him in the first few rounds. This fight should be for the title.

vegh will beat m'pumbu, they want a new champ for 2013 not the one who loose to wiuff....

rooting for rad, shah is a beast, but im rooting for martinez, i think he is a great story...

Yeah, I hope Vegh KOs M'Pumbu. Def. looking forward to this one.

Gotta go with the Shah in this one. Guy is a beast. Martinez does have a good story but Shah does as well coming over from Dagestan.

Volkov/Hale is a tough one to call. If Volkov gets taken down, I think Hale has this but if it stays standing, def. edge to Volkov. Really looking forward to this fight.

M'Pumbu should be at MW but I don't know if he's an easy KO for Vegh. I'd like to see him win and then move down personally.
