James Brum vs. Moktar Benkaci bantamweight bout set for Cage Warriors 51
Fri Dec 21, 2012 2:53 pm
A bantamweight fight has been added to the preliminary card of Cage Warriors' year-end show in Ireland.
James Brum (10-2) looks to remain perfect in 2012 – and perfect under the Cage Warriors banner – when he takes on Moktar Benkaci (8-3) on New Year's Eve.
Cage Warriors 51 takes place Dec. 31 at The Helix in the Irish capital of Dublin. The event's main card streams live on MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) following Facebook prelims.
The card is headlined by a lightweight title fight between Cage Warriors featherweight champion Conor McGregor (11-2) Ivan Buchinger (21-3), with McGregor looking to become the first Cage Warriors fighter to simultaneously hold two titles. Additionally, Chris Fields (10-4) will put his middleweight title on the line against Jesse Taylor (23-9). Fields will defend his title for the first time, and he gets to do it in his hometown of Dublin.

Brum comes into the bout on a four-fight win streak, all by unanimous decision, including his first three Cage Warriors fights. He debuted with the promotion in February, outpointing Leandro Gontijlo at Cages Warriors 46. At Cage Warriors Fight Night 5, he beat Thomas Back, and he had his hand raised against James Saville at Fight Night 7 in September.
Brum is a training partner of recent UFC signee Phil Harris in England. The first six wins of his career came by stoppage, though his past four all have gone the distance.
Benkaci will be making his Cage Warriors debut and will be dropping to bantamweight after a run at featherweight. The Belgian fighter has dropped two of his past three bouts, both by decision, after a six-fight win streak that featured five first-round heel hook finishes. All eight of his wins have come by stoppage, including six submissions.
In his most recent outing in October, Benkaci was outpointed by highly regarded Finnish featherweight Joni Salovaara, after which time he made the move to bantamweight.
