INOKI BOM-BA-YE 2012 Discussion
Fri Dec 21, 2012 3:34 pm
Inoki Genome Federation will produce an INOKI BOM-BA-YE event on a New Years Eve for the first time in 9 years (2003 was the last time) at the Ryougoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
The event will consist of both Puroresu (Pro-Wrestling) matches and MMA bouts. The event will be aired on December 31st on BS Fuji from 7 PM to 9:25 PM. And bigger news yet is that it will also be aired, very late at night, on the real Fuji TV on January 3rd. It was a while ago any Kakutougi (Combat Sports) was aired on Fuji TV, who used to air PRIDE.
5 bouts have been announced for the card thus far and three of them are IGF MMA rules fights. Mirko Cro Cop will take on former-Sumo-Wrestler-turned-Pro-Wrestler Shinichi Suzukawa, Olympic Judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii will battle former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia, and “Real Pro-Wrestler” Minowaman will face Slovenian MMA fighter Bor Bratovz.
As for Puroresu, the legendary Kazuyuki Fujita will take on Olympic Judo silver medalist Naoya Ogawa and K-1 legend Ray Sefo will team up with fellow K-1 fighter Hiromi Amada to face Pro-Wrestlers Atsushi Sawada and Hideki Suzuki in a Tag Team bout.

I heard it was just a publicity stunt for some wrestling event he did in Pakistan.
How disappointing, I thought he respected Ali so much that he even switched religions for him.

YUSUKE KAWAGUCHI. YES.
I think he could beat Rolles and I hope he does, but its going to be tough coming off such a long layoff.

INOKI BOM-BA-YE 2012 Full card set
Inoki’s annual New Years Eve MMA/Kickboxing/Pro Wrestling super show now has a complete line up and as usual, Inoki has brought in some pretty big names in Japan. However, it’s a little lacking due to a lot of IGF’s big names (Aerts, Barnett, JLB, Jienotsu) all getting ready for big fights in other promotions.
IGF Singles Match: Kazuyuki Fujita vs. Naoya Ogawa
IGF Special Tag Match: Atsushi Sawada and Hideki Suzuki vs. Ray Sefo and Hiromi Amada
IGF MMA Rules Match: Shinichi Suzukawa vs. Mirko Cro Cop
IGF MMA Rules Match: Satoshi Ishii vs. Tim Sylvia
IGF MMA Rules Match: Minowa Man vs. Bor Bratovz
IGF MMA Rules Match: Yusuke Kawaguchi vs. Rolles Gracie
IGF Tag Match: Kendo Kashin and Shogun Okamoto vs. Bob Sapp and Erik Hammer
IGF Kickboxing Rules Match: Masayoshi Kakutani vs. Prince Ali
IGF Singles Match: Masked Genome Jr. vs. Kouhaku Kamen
Akira Joh 10 Bout Toukon Series (Bout 7): Akira Joh vs. Kotaro Nasu

Third NYE Fight In A Row! Improved Satoshi Ishii Returns
2008 Olympic Gold Medalist in Judo, Satoshi Ishii, held an open training session for the press today at the IGF Dojo. He will fight for the first time in exactly one year when he takes on former UFC Heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia at the IGF “INOKI BOM-BA-YE 2012″ event on the 31st.
In his last fight, last New Years Eve, he got defeated quite handily by the legendary Fedor Emelianenko. He is still based in Los Angeles in the U.S. but for this fight he traveled and trained one-on-one with K-1 legend Jerome Le Banner as well as with Gegard Mousasi and Stefan Struve in Holland. He is confident and said that personally he believes and feels that, overall, he has become stronger this year. Especially his ground game, which he now calls high quality. He also said that his physical condition for this fight is extremely good, to the extent that it has never been better.
About Tim Sylvia he said that his right straight is strong and that he’s the type to come straight at you and strike. Since Sylvia’s reach is so long it’s important that he (Ishii) doesn’t do anything “half-baked” in regard to distance.
