Meltzer helped kill Strikeforce
Fri Jan 11, 2013 12:14 pm
Here Zuffa shill Meltzer mentions the April 2010 CBS riot as a key moment in Strikeforce's demise, and how CBS wanted no part of MMA after that. Yet Meltzer and his ilk always praised Mayhem Miller and others for trying to bring the idiotic antics and 'feuds' of the fake 'wrestling' into MMA. So Meltzer is at fault as well.

Meltzer had one criterion for something being good: if it made money. Typical amoral fake 'wrestling' shit. Zuffa was clueless when they lost money, but when the Fertittas started raking it in, then they were OK. I knew him since the late 80s and don't even talk to him now.

Its sad, to a lot of people money is all that matters and they'll base whats right and wrong or good and bad on it.
I remember being kinda pumped back in pride when Wandy shoved Rampage when he told Wandy he had his belt, and the SF brawl didn't bother me at all. Whats bad in my opinion is the Chael Sonnen fake wrestling hype and the Phil baroni style walk-ins, makes the sport look cheesy, but whatever.
What I think took out Strikeforce was greedy and lazy owners, they saw some sizeable and quick money from Zuffa and took it. They probably also got hustled a bit by Zuffa, who knows what Zuffa told them.
their match-making with Fedor also didn't help. He was their biggest and most well paid star and instead of having him avenge his loss to werdum they put him, the smallest fighter in the tourney, against the biggest and bigfoot used it and got that bullshit win.

And even after Zuffa bought Strikeforce, it still was a viable product. But Zuffa poached most of the top fighters, through one way or another, like Overeem, Nick Diaz, Dan Henderson, and Cung Le, and left it as a shell of itself. They double-crossed Showtime, who, having dealt for so long with boxing promoters, should have understood this right away. And Meltzer was a cheerleader for whatever Zuffa did.
