ufc in trouble??? 100 fighters to be cut...
Fri Feb 22, 2013 11:35 am
The MMA world was a little shocked on Wednesday when ZUFFA announced that 16 fighters had been cut from the roster, including Jon Fitch.
However, the 16 is apparently just the beginning - multiple sources are reporting that the UFC plans to cut 100 fighters from the roster.
MMAJunkie co-founder tweeted definitively:
John Morgan @MMAjunkieJohn
Surprised at some of names but not number of guys released by UFC. Was told they need to trim about 100 guys right now.
The information was confirmed by Ariel Helwani:
Ariel Helwani @arielhelwani
Dana says they are over 100 guys on the roster. The releases aren't over, he says.
The cuts are presumably due to the unflux of fighters from Strikeforce, as well as the addition in the last year of two new divisions - the women's 135 pound Bantamweight division, and the men's 125 pound Flyweight division.
It’s believed that this is primarily down to the influx of new fighters into the UFC via Strikeforce, while the introduction of the woman’s 135lb division in addition to the 125lb men’s flyweight division last year has also played it’s part in the promotion now having a surplus of fighters for the 33 events they plan to hold in 2013.

wow and then people talk shit that we dont need other companies!!!
looks like the imperium is not that strong no more....
when you start releasing fighters of the caliber of fitch, matyushenko and russow, imo is a sign of financial troubles, nothing else!
the pressense of viacom in the fighting game has zuffa real worried...

Ultimate FC is going to be gone before that much longer.
People are going to be surprised, but we all have seen it coming, and been talking about it for a while.
It's actually a pretty normal phenomenon in young business fields for things to come and go, even if they look strong for a bit.

They have a chance to make the roster better not giving contracts like candy for former tuf participants, I hope they cut Cody McKenzie, Matt Grice, Rodrigo Damm, Yaotzin Meza, Marcos Vinicius, Dustin Pague,Caio Magalhaes, Rafaello Oliveira, Cristiano Marcello, Joe Proctor, Mitch Clarke, David Mitchell, Kenny Robertson.

I hope they keep all the TUF guys and cut the good fighters instead. I want to see the top guys in other promotions.bolsheet wrote:They have a chance to make the roster better not giving contracts like candy for former tuf participants, I hope they cut Cody McKenzie, Matt Grice, Rodrigo Damm, Yaotzin Meza, Marcos Vinicius, Dustin Pague,Caio Magalhaes, Rafaello Oliveira, Cristiano Marcello, Joe Proctor, Mitch Clarke, David Mitchell, Kenny Robertson.

Ratings continue to decline to their lowest level yet for Zuffa's TUF on FX show. Just look at the chart for the truth. The zombie who wrote the article doesn't even mention the decline and the loss of almost 400,000 homes since it started on FX.
TUF 17 Episode 1: 1.51 million
TUF 17 Episode 2: 1.27 million
TUF 17 Episode 3: 1.191 million
TUF 17 Episode 4: 1.25 million
TUF 17 Episode 5: 1.13 million

Declines all around for the Ultimate FC, they are 100% in trouble and are trimming as much fighters as they can to save money.
As for the excuse that most of those fighters is from Strikeforce. Well the shady side of Zuffa strikes once again, promising business as usual for Strikeforce and fighters, promising them a rich contract in UFC, and once they are enticed they are discarded. Just like what happened to Pride fighters/workers.

Yup they are definitely in trouble. You can tell by how mad Dana gets about it: "we're about a 100 guys over!" and yelling at Ariel. But why did they let it get this big? Why is it now, all of sudden, they're too big? Why not last year? They didn't sign "100 guys" overnight.
UFC is definitely in trouble.

I didnt wanna make another thread so i'll post here
Diego Nunes just got wtf?what fucking bullshit he was a longtime top 10 fighter until UFC made up their own bullshit rankings! They keep terrible fighters around (majority of them american) but if you a foreigner you get cut from one loss.
I dont really care for Fitch being cut. I hope ufc cuts boring fighters like volkman and fitch. hopefully guys like riddle who just play the rule set and look for decisions.
UFC will become way worse with guys trying to out gameplan each other knowing that 1 loss means being cut.
Why dont they just get rid of TUF?
UFC gets worse by the month while bellator has fucking amazing cards like last nights

And as the empire starts to burn....
Zoofa have nobody but themselves to blame for the upcoming bloodletting, and like Stu said, it's a given that the fighters will use gameplans to not get cut, which in turn will lead to boring 3/5-round fights, which leads to a bigger streak of even crappier shows. They had plenty of chances to keep things fresh, but alas, they keep riding a dead horse whose ratings are sinking, and their goofy matchmaking with undeserving title contenders are all going to horribly devalue the brand name to the point where the company is so cold in the eyes of the fans, it can do nothing right. Some of us, on this website and on others, are forerunners to this line of thinking.
