brian stann retires from mma
Thu Jul 11, 2013 6:05 pm
Former wec champ and ufc fighter all American Brian stann announced his retirement.
Sad I liked stan he had super heavy hands and a no quit attitude.loved his fights in wec and most in the ufc.
If he were more schooled in wrestling I think he would have been more successful but he had a good run and I wish him the best in all his endeavors.

I didn´t see this coming. He´s an entertaining fighter and I really enjoyed his fights against Steve Cantwell in WEC. Here´s cool vid of his bar brawl against Wanderlei

Maybe instead of being under year round 365/24-7 exclusive MMA-career contract to the world's largest $2B-$600M/yr that is paying it's marquee fighters 10% of the pie... he decided he needs to be able to feed his family, buy a house, and pay for medical insurance for them. On the last one... not simply having employer on-the-job injury medical insurance for himself. A lot of good it would do his family if he got major cancer or became disabled due to Lou Gehrig's disease. Not to mentioned what would happen if any members of his family got the same things.
Name me a $1B, $2B, or more top pro sports franchise or league with closer to a billion dollars in yearly revenue where ANY 'exclusive' contract 365/24-7 full-time athlete is in a position like outlined above???

That is surprising. Sucks to see such an exciting fighter call it quits so soon.

What's more surprising is that he'll be an ACC Football analyst now.

Good for Stann. The more I heard him on the mic the more I started to like him.Always showed respect to his opponents and legends of the sport even when Zuffabots like Jon Anik tried baiting him into shitting on them(Jorge Santiago).Did'nt hurt either most of his fights were very entertaining.I wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors...

He wasn't anything special as a fighter, but wow, what class. Such a classy American. It's too bad he disgraced the country by losing to Bisping.

I unfortunately agree. I liked watching him fight until he lost to fucking Michael Pissping. I never forgave him for that and cheered his getting deaded by Wanderlei.

Agreed.
No shame in losing to such a legend like Wand. Stann showed a lot of heart and good composure.
Wandy was outstriking him all night. But Wanderlei has worldclass strikiing and Stann is meh.
He would've killed him if this were PRIDE>

PRIDE? Well, hopefully Stann would have the common sense to juice up and make it a level playing field. I feel however that he is far too classy to do this. He would definitely be killed.
