WILL CHOPE signed to UFC, debuts in SINGAPORE
Wed Nov 13, 2013 12:44 am
The Kill. Lanky Madness. The World’s Tallest Featherweight. The Hardest Working Fighter in Asia. He’s known by many monikers, and now Will Chope can tack on one more: UFC Fighter.
Chope has taken on any fight that has come his way, in every promotion big and small, including Thai boxing matches. And when he’s not fighting, he’s everywhere, all the time, last weekend cornering Nathalie Heidel in PXC, this weekend AJ Pyro at ONE FC.
Chope has been lauded by fans for his tenacity, and battered by critics for “padding” his record with so many wins in smaller regional promotions. Chope stopped the naysayers when he was signed to PXC and matched with reigning King Of Pancrase Takumi Nakayama – he was rocked in the first, then came back to win with a TKO, resoundingly settling any claim of his veracity.
Chope confirmed to MMA-in-ASIA that he has been signed by the UFC, a dream come true for him and an ultimate goal since he set foot in the MMA world in Asia a mere 3 years ago.
Chope says he will be on the January 4th card in Singapore and face Bekbulat Magomedov, another prospect out of Russia who will also be making his debut with the promotion. Magomedov was recently picked up by RUFF and is scheduled to fight top Chinese featherweight and RUFF China National Champion Wang Guan at RUFF 11 on November 30, 2013.
Chope’s statement,
“I’m stoked!”
