Who is the Greatest 2-Sport Athlete (MMA+other sport)?
Sun Dec 01, 2013 9:02 pm
There've been lots of cross over athletes into MMA from other sports, some successful, some not so successful. Which MMA athlete has had the most success in TWO sports?
Best 2-Sport MMA athlete (from any sport)
Best from Jiu Jitsu
Best from Kickboxing/Muay Thai
Best from Wrestling
Best from U.S. Football
Best from Sambo
... etc (add your own)...

For judo, id go with Yoshida or Ishii. For wrestling, id go Cormier. For U.S. Football, id pick St. Preux.

Baseball: Jose Canseco . Actually, maybe Takanori Gomi. (Which sport do you way more heavily?)

Actually, it is a difficult question, because of the matter of which to way.
I think the idea is someone who is highly accomplished in 2 separate sports.
But for example, full contact Karate. Kikuno? Machida? It's hard to say actually not knowing their comprehensive records, etc.
Nice thread though, and some good picks.
Judo, I probably go with Yoshida.
Wrestling, Hendo for sure.
If you want to divide for freestyle, Cormier is a good pick.

Yeah that's the trick...nodogoshi wrote:Baseball: Jose Canseco ;). Actually, maybe Takanori Gomi. (Which sport do you way more heavily?)
Now come to think of it Herschel Walker might be the guy from Football (U.S.)...not Shawn Jordan. Though Walker only had 2 fights in MMA (2-0), he's one of the GOATs in Football (U.S.)
Was Gomi a pro baseball player?! At what level?
He is one of the GOATs of MMA, might be top 2 in his division, so his MMA career might be = to Canseco's Baseball career.

Nah, he was a pitcher in junior high and high school. He dropped out of high school, but is said to have been very good. I just thought since Canseco wasn't much of a fighter, and Gomi was.OG wrote:Yeah that's the trick...nodogoshi wrote:Baseball: Jose Canseco . Actually, maybe Takanori Gomi.
