Marat Gafurov has a valid contract with M-1 Global

President of M-1 Global commented on the situation with Marat Gafurov and the news about his transition to ONE FC.

"Marat Gafurov is the M-1 Challenge featherweight champion and in our hands has he signed a contract that officially expires 11/19/2014, so is not clear how he could sign any agreement with another organization. Several days before we heard the rumors that he told his friends that he will go to an Asian promotion. We turned to the official representative club Fighting Eagle and received assurances that Marat will continue to fight in our organization.

We have even fixed the date for the title defense of his championship belt and the opponent as well as officially notified his manager - Gadzhimurad Karayewa.  In any case, having no direct connection with yourself Gafurov, we asked him to pass through the manager and his friends through all the data on the existing obligations under the contract and the fact that the rumors about moving to ONE FC should remain rumors.

So the news that the signing has already taken place was a complete surprise, and as it turned out - not only for us but also for its official manager of the club Fighting Eagle with whom Gafurova also have a contract.

Today we will send a signed contract copy to the ONE FC president and our comments on the case. We will first address the issue directly with the promotion ONE FC, we not rule out that they just like we were deceived, saying that Marat is a free agent. Therefore we are confident that we will have ONE FC full understanding, professional attitude and respect for other people's contracts.

In an extreme case we'll have to go to the international court in the Netherlands."

Well that's not good from Gafurov. Hopefully this doesn't turn into some kinda spectacle or even getting Victor Cui in the mix. Sounds like this is a legal business matter between M-1 & Gafurov.

It would appear Vadim is not selling fighter contracts. He seems to be defending this one which is still in force with M-1. All the other guys were probably free agents.

Good to hear M-1 just isn't letting all their champs get signed off.

I really hope this doesn't turn into something like the Slava situation with Bellator   

I would love to see Gafurov fight in both M-1 and ONE FC. Exclusive contracts are lame!

M-1 is usually willing to let the fighters fight in other promotions but Bellator signed Slava to an exclusive contract which is crazy since he had a contract with M-1.

ONE FC said they didn´t know Gafurov had a contract with M-1 and canceled their contract right away. Now M-1 and ONE are looking to work together in the future.
