Legacy FC signs UFC vet Aaron Rosa, targets Paul Buentello matchup
Tue Dec 10, 2013 5:10 pm
Big-show vet Aaron Rosa, a recent UFC competitor, has signed with Legacy FC and has already been targeted for a matchup with another familiar name.
Legacy FC promoter Mick Maynard today told MMAjunkie that Rosa (17-6) has signed a multi-fight deal and is being targeted for a fight with fellow light heavyweight Paul Buentello (33-15) at Legacy FC 28.
The event takes place Feb. 21 at Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio. The main card, including a bout between middleweight champ William “Bubba” Bush (6-2) and Roger Narvarez (6-0), airs on AXS TV.
In addition to the UFC, Rosa has competed for organizations such as Strikeforce, Bellator MMA, EliteXC and Titan FC. After a four-fight winning streak, the 30-year-old Texan signed with the UFC in 2011. He went 1-2 with a majority-decision win over Matt Lucas and TKO losses to Joey Beltran and James Te Huna.
Following his release, Rosa suffered a submission loss to Mikhail Zayats at Bellator 103 in October.
He could look to get back on track again Buentello, a former UFC and Strikeforce heavyweight title challenger who recently won his fourth straight fight. The 39-year-old dropped to light heavyweight and made his Legacy FC debut in his most recent bout, in which he knocked out James McSweeney with a body punch.
