The CNMMA was originally a part of Marc Ratner/Zuffa's IMMAF. The Canadian amateur association was a crown jewel in the cap of their fledgling organization which has not even held a world championship yet.

Many of the IMMAF's nation members are not really organized and have gmail/hotmail addresses for the country leadership. The brass of the IMMAF went to the London Olympics to see if they could network and hopefully rub shoulders with IOC officials.

Fedor & Vaidm's WMMAA & UMMAR already have 40+ international countries that have already had national championships in 2013. The first world championships were held in 2013 to 16,000 people for the finals along with an M-1 Challenge event. Early in 2013 20 delegates from SportAccord attended meetings & demonstrations (not just hopes of rubbing a shoulder at the hotel bar in London) with Vadim & fedor and their organization.

SportAccord is the defacto sanctioning body for international amateur sport. The standard. Fedor was appointed SportAccord's world ambassador for Sambo in 2012.

Zuffa cannot win this battle. International amateur sport not fueled purely by money & greed. At the grass roots level it's is a labor love. Love of each of the sports with people giving their time and effort freely. Same with the young athletes. The only ones that reach elites levels have done so purely for the love of their sports and to reach their dreams. They do the things to be successful that people who are unsuccessful won't. Hard word & dedication for zero dollars with no guarantee of rewards for anything.

You can't build a sport internationally from the top purely with greed with a grand plan to corner the world's MMA market. Never gonna happen.

Canada joins WMMAA!

World MMA Association is extremely pleased to announce that Canada becomes the newest member of our steadily growing family. There is no need to tell about Canada's rich combat sports legacy that includes multiple world champions. Suffice it to say, WMMAA expects the highest-caliber athletes to defend this North American country's honor at the upcoming championships and cups udner the WMMAA banner. Welcome!

Get to know: Canadian National Mixed Martial Arts Federation

Canadian National Mixed Martial Arts Federation was officially founded in June of 2013. The main force behind that event was a majority group that wanted to bring Amateur MMA as a National Sport under the Canadian Government.

The heads of the Federation:

National Director: Rob Pelletier
Vice President: Pete Becker
Director of National Operation: Wayne Williams

Although in its enfancy this federation has already established membership in 10 provinces in Canada with board of directors in each province to develop and oversee the mandate of a national federation.
The CNMMAF is a non-profit, democratic organization that deals with the overall development and structure for MMA in a Canada.

Its national goal is to be approved by the ministry of sports (or the equivalent) and the Olympic committee in our country.

The responsibilities and activities of the CNNMAF for MMA are much like those of any other sport. The national federation governs, manages and develops the amateur side of the sport. This entails everything from offering coach and referee education to representing MMA with politicians and the sports community, suggesting or protecting legislation regarding MMA and overall ensuring that MMA has a standing in the sports community of Canada in questions regarding rules, regulations, safety and so forth.
