Sat May 10, 2014 3:49 pm
Legacy FC’s second summer event is nearly complete with a six-fight main card planned for an event headlined by a featherweight title bout between UFC vet and current champ Leonard Garcia and challenger Damon Jackson.
Today, promotional officials announced five additional main-card bouts for Legacy Fights 33, which takes place July 18 at Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. The event’s main card airs live on AXS TV.
Rouding out the televised fights are Gilbert Burns (7-0) vs. Marcus “Wrecking Ball” Hicks (10-3), Ray Rodriguez (4-2) vs. Steven Peterson (10-4), Kory Vialet (5-1) vs. Eli Tamez (7-0) and Andrew Parker (4-0) vs. Melvin Jordan (3-1).
Legacy FC official are still seeking a main-card opponent for middleweight Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu product Evan Thompson (4-0), who is undefeated in four pro fights.
Welterweight Burns, who trains with the famed Blackzilians, is undefeated and has stopped all of his opponents in the first round. He attempts to deepen his resume against WEC vet Hicks, who’s won his past two on the regional circuit.
In a 140-pound catchweight bout, Rodriguez attempts to get back in the win column after dropping a decision this past December that was his first setback under the Legacy banner. Promotional regular Peterson has won his past two outings, including a second-round TKO this past February.
Bantamweight Vialet rebounded this past January from his first pro loss, which preceded a yearlong layoff from the sport. Tamez, meanwhile, is undefeated in seven pro bouts and has won three for Legacy.
Team Takedown’s newest welterweight, Andrew Parker, hopes to build on a 4-0 record while Jordan looks for his third straight win after a loss in his pro debut.
With the additions to the lineup, the Legacy FC 33 card now includes:
Champ Leonard Garcia vs. Damon Jackson – for featherweight title
Gilbert Burns vs. Marcus “Wrecking Ball” Hicks
Evan Thompson vs. opponent TBA
Steven Peterson vs. Johnny Ray Rodriguez
Eli Tamez vs. Kory Vialet
Andrew Parker vs. Melvin Jordan
