Leonard Garcia vs. Damon Jackson title fight headlines Legacy FC 33 official discussion

Leonard Garcia (18-11-1) will look to register his first successful title defense when he meets undefeated Damon Jackson (8-0) in July at Legacy FC 33.

Legacy FC promoter/owner Mick Maynard today confirmed the featherweight headliner with MMAjunkie.

Legacy FC 33 takes place July 18 at Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. The main card airs on AXS TV.

Garcia, a former UFC and WEC fighter, has found a second life since his Zuffa release in 2013. The Texan then signed with Legacy FC, where he posted a knockout win over Rey Trujillo and a submission victory over Nick Gonzalez. In December, he then knocked out Kevin Aguilar to win the organization’s featherweight title.

The 34-year-old Team Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter now puts his three-fight winning streak on the line against 25-year-old Jackson, a fast-rising prospect who’s post eight stoppages (two knockouts and six submissions) in eight career wins since his 2012 pro debut. The former Bellator fighter has picked up submission wins over Javier Obregon and Hunter Tucker since joining Legacy FC.
