Pulev, despite all the knockdowns, did much better than most other Klitschko opponents. Respect.

I didn't think Pulev would win but I didn't expect him to get knocked down so fast and so many times.
Wlad is just much faster.
And on steroids.
Lots of steroids.
And for this fight he probably quadrupled his dose, and had a cup of nescafe just before the fight,
which I don't think is allowed right before a fight, but Wlad gets away with it cause he has German
favoritism on his side.
Logic dictates that if Germans are nazis and Ukrainians are also nazis they will favor each other.
Yup I went there.
*sigh*

Pulev took the fight to Wlad. and didn't fight scared like most of Wlad's opponents, which made it a fight.
He got himself knocked out as a result, however that created a much more appealing fight than we've seen Wlad in for some time.
Pulev was doing some things well and was actually threatening Wlad in spots. But Wlad was too good. Pulev gave it a good go. With some more refining, he would have had a better shot. He's likely a future champion. He'd beat most of the other heavyweights, and he's not even at his peak yet.
I've never heard of any rule against consuming caffeine before a fight. During a fight is a different matter--typically only water is allowed (though it depends on the commission. I've seen Gatorade be allowed before, I think it was in California.)
