M-1 Global light heavyweight champion Vinny Magalhães has announced via Twitter and Facebook that he is retiring from the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

Magalhães, a multi-time grappling gold medalist and two-time UFC veteran has recently taken to the Underground Forum to voice his frustrations with the M-1 promotion over what he perceived as a bias towards his most recent opponent Mikhail Zayats; whom he faced and defeated by technical knockout in the 3rd round of their fight on October 14th at M-1 Challenge XXVII in Phoenix, AZ. Apparently, those frustrations have boiled over and led to his decision to leave the sport.

“Retiring from MMA,” Magalhães said via Twitter. “Selling my belt on ebay. Action starting at $0.10 free shipping.”

Magalhães, the Ultimate Fighter 8 light heavyweight tournament finalist, currently finds himself in the midst of a career best five-fight win streak and is 7-1 overall following his release from the UFC in 2009. We will keep you posted on any developing news regarding this story as we receive it.

My mistake, I got carried away and got excited about that prima donna retiring.

M-1 gave him a chance when no one else would, hes acting like M-1 raped his whole family

I wish he went through his promise and actually quit.

To bad he isn't retiring. Oh well, let him get signed by the ufc, lose and not have anywhere to go. I don't think I have ever seen a fighter who whines and crys as much as this guy. Dana treats guys way worse than anything that ever happened to him at M-1 (which wasn't even that big of a deal).

Vinny told us everything already. He took offense when he saw Kogan cheering for the Russian (as if cheering for your countryman is a crime punishable by death). He already stated that M-1 gave him a chance when no one else would, gave him fights, and honoured their end of the contract. As far as im concerned, his actions to date has been childish, unwarranted, idiotic, and annoying. I see him as a pri madonna and have already said this to him in another post in another forum.

You see, even though in most instances id stick up for the fighter, in some instances id stick for the promotion. For example, I stuck for Golden Glory when Overeem bitched, moaned, and ultimately didnt honour his contract. I stuck for M-1 when Slava didnt honour his contract, and I stuck for M-1 when Vinny went overboard with his childish whineing. IM NOT A ZOMBIE AND CAN DECIDE WHEN IT IS APPROPRIATE TO SIDE WITH THE FIGHTER AND WHEN IT IS APPROPRIATE TO SIDE WITH THE PROMOTION.

God, again this type of comment....... People dislike him NOT BECAUSE OF FUCKING M-1, but because he's been acting like an idiot. If he did it to the UFC or whatever it would be just as wrong. Even if there was no orgs, you'd still have to sign a contract. He signed one, did not honored it because of 1 single guy on his company and alot more, like training a guy that trashes everything he represents, and now selling a belt like it was garbage and meant nothing.

Don't understand people's fascination on picking on us while the opposition is way bigger and problematic. It is always with generalizations too, to make it even worse.

Vinny wants in the UFC. I just saw the UFC is sponsoring Jon Jones against Evans. If 1 guy who works for M-1 cheering for a fighter makes him upset, he should be really mad about an organization sponsoring 1 of their fighters against another one of their fighters.

he's just butthurt, this is tipical of some fighters these days, let M-1 or some other org make you somewhat relevent again then bail on em, talk shit about your current org and start sucking zuffa dick to make a lil more money. He'll be begging m-1 to take him back once he gets the dana white treatment.
