Bellator is stepping up to Madison Square Garden and back onto pay-per-view.

The mixed martial arts promotion will stage a stacked card in New York City on June 24, The Associated Press has learned.

Bellator 180 will be headlined by Chael Sonnen's long-awaited rivalry bout with Wanderlei Silva. Additional fights will be announced soon for several of the promotion's top talents, including a handful of its newly-signed free agents.

Should be a big fight. I would have liked to have seen Wand get a warm up fight first but Sonnen hadn't fought much lately either.

I hope they do a good number of buys. I'd like to see Wand take this. It is a really good fight given their background on TUF and the fight they had on the show with all the build up.

They should stack this card to the brim. Work with Rizin maybe and bring in fighters like Kron.

I'd like to see Fedor vs. Big Foot or Hendo on the PPV. I would buy that for sure. I know Big Foot might be fight Minakov for Fight Nights, which is also a really interesting fight, but I'd rather see the Fedor fight first. Give them some PPV shares and make the fight happen.

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Matt Mitrione is getting a do-over at The World’s Most Famous Arena.

The two heavyweights will meet in the co-main event of Bellator 180 on June 24 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Emelianenko (36-4, 1 NC) will be making his Bellator debut in the bout at MSG. He is 2-0 since coming out of retirement. “The Last Emperor,” now 40 years old, is regarded as the best heavyweight of all time in MMA, and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters, too. The Russia native once went a decade without losing.

Mitrione (11-5) has won two straight since coming over to Bellator from the UFC. In total, the former NFL player has won five of seven. Mitrione, 38, is an alum of The Ultimate Fighter 10.

^That sucks. I've always hated the Fedor/Mitrione fight. I hope it's for the belt at least. Coker has said over and over again they were going to get the title going this summer but still no word yet. I'd rather see Fedor/Rampage or Fedor/Kongo.

Rampage has looked like shit and is  overweight at hw......hes got name value but hes also fighting king mo and im pretty sure that's his last fight with Bellator.

Kongo would be a REALLY boring fight.

Im stoked they giving fans what they want and the match that got away.

That's a real good card.  I'd change MVP/Larkin to MVP/Daley and Larkin/Koreshkov.

I like that Shlemenko/Kato fight.  That one would be an exciting fight you would think.

I'd add Lashley/Kharitonov as well since we know it is Fedor/Mitrione now.

Michael Chandler vs. Brent Primus title fight set for Bellator 180

Chandler (16-3) has won four straight and is coming off a successful title defense against former UFC champion Benson Henderson in November. The Missouri native won the belt for a second time in June 2016, via knockout over Patricky Freire. Chandler, 30, has been a cornerstone for Bellator and one of its most tenured athletes, going back to 2010.

Primus (7-0) is a perfect 5-0 in Bellator. The Oregon native is coming off a split decision win over Gleristone Santos in April 2016 and will be coming into this bout following a 14-month layoff. Primus, 31, also owns a win over Bellator welterweight contender Derek Anderson.

Its not a good look putting spectacle fights above the title fights.

Also imo if they were to put any title fight on this card it should have been bader vs davis.

Fedor vs meathead co-main
Wandy vs chael showcase fight


But i also see name value wise why wandy and chael are main but i dont agree personally.

Good points. I agree, Davis/Bader should be added to the PPV portion of this card.

Lorenz Larkin  received a substantial bonus for leaving the UFC and joining Bellator: a title shot versus champion Douglas Lima at Madison Square Garden on June 24.

Larkin (18-5) was 4-1 in his final five fights in the UFC, including a first-round technical knockout of Neil Magny on the Aug. 20 UFC 202 card headlined by the Conor McGregor-Nate Diaz rematch.

Lima, from Brazil, is 28-6,won the belt in November with a third-round knockout of Andrey Koreshkov in Israel and defeated England’s Paul Daley by decision in July in London.

Card is looking stacked and with a 4 fight card leading up to the ppv it will be a nice night of fights.

For Bellator 180 they announced Aaron Pico will make his mma which is really cool.

Card is looking great two title fights a grudge match and Fedor . Fedor and wand are past their best but I don't care I will still watch them they could be 80 for all I care I will still watch em

The one thing I do not get about Bellator is this...
They care only about money right? So put Kimbo vs Dada because it will be big draw. Well if they care about money than put Fedor vs. Lashley because that is obvious money fight. Hardcore MMA fans will watch because Fedor, WWE fans because Lashley and it has average fight fan appeal imo. Mitrione is not terrible opponent but I would rather see Fedor vs. Rampage, Bigfoot, Kharitonov, Minakov, Kongo, Carwin(what is going on with him?), Bader, King Mo.

Yeah, many other fights could have been a bigger draw. They should try to get Kharitonov vs. Lashley on this card at least. I think that would draw in some fans.

Last ppv attempt did 100,000 with a much lesser card.Ppv buys all around have been down but i think they can definitely make a profit.

This ppv isn't just to try and make money,its a test for viacom to see how much the brand has grown and to see how numbers would do in a ppv format.

Kimbo vs dada???????? You do realize that would envolve reincarnating a dead kimbo right?

Not to mention ppl definitely tune in for freak fights on free tv but i doubt it would be the same when u gotta pay....not to mention that's a HORRIBLE fight.FEDOR is a great draw but i wouldn't put him as headliner until he's won against a real opponent.Its smart to use chael and wandy as their names are big in america and will draw.


Wandy and chael while being past prime is a much better main the any other geezer combo.

Rampage headlined the first ppv his name isnt a big draw anymore and he is out of shape at hw its hilarious.



Fedor vs.....

Rampage.....he is a good name but just another bloated lhw who looks like shit at hw.

King mo......decent at hw but still bloated and no cardio at hw and hes not a big draw.(he and rampage headlined last ppv)

Bigfoot.....isnt signed with bellator,he's on a 4 fight losing streak and is 1-7-1 in his last 9 fights.......that rematch makes absolutely no sense at this point in time.

Kharitonov....,..just got ktfo by javy ayala and is fighting chase gormley next.Kharitonov is not really a draw either.

Minakov.....excellent fight but i doubt fedor would even fight him,plus bellator and minakov are at a stalemate in negotiations.

Kongo......is probably the last fight i'd want to see he's a lay n pray fighter his fights are horribly boring and fans know that.....that fight isn't a draw or really that good.

Carwin.....not a bellator fighter,and is obviously having weight issues or injury cuz hes yet to fight or even talk about fighting.he is older and is known to be injury prone that's why he retired in the first place.Great fight,great draw but i doubt he'd make it to the cage.

Bader.....not a hw and fedor has never cut to 205 making this fight impossible.

Great talent being displayed can't wait for the last 2 fights for bellator 180 to be announced as well as the last fight on the PPV,and picos opponent.

I think they will do pretty good PPV numbers. They have some big names on this card.

As if this mess wasn't bad enough with uninteresting match ups for Fedor and canceled events. now you have Sonnen talking about Fedor and how he is opening for Sonnen:

“Fedor Emelianenko in his crowning moment is going to jerk the curtain before the ‘Bad Guy’ himself walks,” Sonnen said. “Can you imagine being Fedor Emelianenko, getting that call and told you’re coming to MSG, you’re gonna pull the curtain back for Chael Sonnen to make the walk?"

If Fedor is on a card, he should be the main event. Sonnen being the main event over him is just an embarrassment. Great job Bellator. The sad thing is, Sonnen is right. Bellator made Fedor second fiddle to Chael Sonnen.

^^ true though I think they did it cause chael draws in bigger ppv numbers than Fedor (I'm probably wrong) but I can see why they did I don't agree with it the title fights should've been the co main/main event's .

Bader has shoes on, which will add a little bit, but yeah he is huge. I saw a picture of him and Cain Velasquez standing next to each other before and Bader looked like a HW compared to Velasquez who looked like a LHW.
