M-1 Challenge 30 ratings: Event draws series-low 148,000 Showtime viewers
Tue Dec 13, 2011 6:13 pm
This past Friday's M-1 Challenge 30 event saw a slight dip in the size of its Showtime audience, as the event drew a 0.4 household rating and a series-low 148,000 viewers.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the figures with an industry source.
Featuring an M-1 Global welterweight title fight, M-1 Challenge 30 took place Dec. 9 at The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif.
The event was the fourth M-1 Challenge show to air on Showtime. M-1 Challenge 24 drew 189,000 viewers earlier this year, M-1 Challenge 26 drew 161,000 viewers in July, and M-1 Challenge 27 scored 185,000 viewers back in October. The four shows now have averaged 170,750 viewers on the premium-cable channel.
M-1 Challenge 30 saw Yasubey Enomoto defeat Shamil Zavurov via fifth-round submission o become new welterweight champ. Artiom Damkovsky and Alexander Sarnavskiy also picked up first-round wins on the evening's main card.
M-1 Global struck a broadcast deal with Showtime in January as part of a contract renegotiation with M-1 heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko.
The full M-1 Challenge-Showtime rankings include:
M-1 Challenge 24 ratings: 189,000 viewers
M-1 Challenge 26 ratings: 161,000
M-1 Challenge 27 ratings: 185,000

Lets hope Guram does not get injured for the 3rd time.
And I agree on advertising needs to be stepped up and they need some names fighters to sign aswell.

Agreed that they need way way more advertising. Showtime prob. wanted lower ratings for this show if they plan to renegotiate a network deal.
Guram would be a good add as well.

The average fan doesn´t know who Enomoto and Zavurov are so it would be good with some bigger american names.

M-1's new advertising slogan:
"Guram is coming...all the time"

eh it's alright, this just means that 150k people now know who Damkovsky and Enomoto are, which is better than no one. Also I bet Showtime would get better ratings Sat afternoon broadcasting from a packed Russian arena.
