On 4-0 run, Strikeforce vet Lyle Beerbohm signs with World Series of Fighting
Thu Sep 20, 2012 12:18 pm
After a two-fight skid in Strikeforce, Lyle Beerbohm has gone on a 4-0 run in 2012 that now has him a deal with the World Series of Fighting.
Beerbohm (19-2) has signed a multi-fight deal with the new promotion and is expected to have his first bout announced soon. Beerbohm's management team recently announced the signing.
The WSOF is scheduled to make its debut on Nov. 3 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The event's main card airs live on NBC Sports Network.
Beerbohm in 2011 suffered a unanimous decision loss to Pat Healy on a Strikeforce Challengers show, then was submitted by Shinya Aoki in the first round in April 2011.
But after nearly a year off, "Fancy Pants" returned in March at a Worldwide Mixed Martial Arts show in Texas and submitted Cleburn Walker in the first round. He followed that up with a first-round submission of Chris Ensley for King of the Cage, then a decision win over Marcus Aurelio in June.
This past month, Beerbohm stopped Kenny Ento with another first-round submission for King of the Cage, and the 4-0 streak through the first eight full months of the year was enough for WSOF to come calling.
Beerbohm has stoppages in 16 of his 19 victories, including a win over Duane Ludwig for Strikeforce in 2009.
"I'm excited to be with the WSOF," Beerbohm stated. "To be fighting on TV for a promotion that is poised for such big things is awesome."
It is not yet known if Beerbohm will debut on the Nov. 3 WSOF debut card, which is scheduled to be headlined by former UFC bantamweight and WEC champ Miguel Torres against an opponent still to be named.

It could hopefully fill that void that prime Strikeforce filled: A beautiful alternative to that meaningless spectacle from Vegas. But hopefully with tourneys!
