Bellator 75 ratings: Numbers down from season debut
Tue Oct 09, 2012 3:39 pm
After a strong showing in its Season 7 debut a week prior, Bellator 75 saw a ratings decline this past weekend.
Bellator 75 averaged 145,000 viewers on MTV2, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed with industry sources.
Bellator 74, which kicked off the current 12-week season on Sept. 28, averaged 180,000 viewers, which marks a 19 percent decrease.
Bellator 75 took place this past Friday, Oct. 5, at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. The MTV2-televised main card followed prelims on Spike.com.
The event's main card featured the opening round of Bellator's Season 7 heavyweight tournament. Thiago Santos, Alexander Volkov, Richard Hale and Vinicius Queiroz all advanced to the semifinals of the eight-man field. However, in a rematch with Eric Prindle, Santos advanced after a brutal disqualification via an ax-kick to the groin from his opponent.
Bellator now has averaged 162,500 viewers over its two Season 7 events.
Bellator's current season is the final one on MTV2 before the organization moves to the higher-rated Spike TV, the former home of the UFC, in early 2013.
The all-time Bellator-MTV2 ratings include:
Bellator 75 ratings: 145,000 viewers
Bellator 74 ratings: 190,000
Bellator 71-73 ratings (Summer Series average): 180,000
Bellator 60-70 ratings (Season 6 average): 155,000
Bellator 49-59 ratings (Season 5 average): 186,000
Bellator 46-48 ratings (Summer Series average): 229,000
Bellator 35-45 ratings (Season 4 average): 204,000

Nobody respects Bellator's HW division at this point, can't imagine why they put that card head-to-head with a UFC event.

UFC ratings arent anything to brag about either. Good on Bellator, I think at this point their TV slot is safer than the UFC ones.
- Bellator 84 ratings: Season finale draws second-highest numbers of season
- Bellator 69 ratings: Event scores season-best numbers on MTV2
- Bellator 81 ratings: Numbers hold steady, still below season average
- Bellator 85 Draws 938,000 Viewers in Thursday Night Spike TV Debut
- Bellator 68 ratings: Tied for third-best all season, top season average
