Anderson (almost) willing to fight Jones at a Catchweight
Thu Oct 18, 2012 3:44 pm
From a recent interview with GLOBO:
"People are talking about it so much ... I have no intention, it has something that motivates me, just because they have other athletes on my team (at Light Heavyweight), as Nogueira, Maldonado, Feijao, Cauldron, which is the weight of it. My weight is 185, this is my title. But people talk so much, and we are the UFC. Of course, I do not want to be talking, but what if he goes there and accepted the money that Dana will give him wanting to fight? It'll be difficult. It's not the money that motivates me to fight, I fight because I like it. So, I dunno ... I would not. But if it happens, would be that the weight-matched. Not for his belt. I already got mine and I do not want to leave a title dropped."

If he could catch the belt it would be much better, but he'd have to keep defending it and against teammates so it is understandable.
All i know is this is the fight i want before he retires. The MW and LHW champions going at it. Also after it happens Anderson can retire and Jones move up as he said he would (not before fighting hendo though).

This is still an excuse because Jones would have to come down from 205 which he already cuts a lot of weight for. Like cutting 20-25 lbs right before weigh-ins. Probably 30lbs+ from his out-of-training camp weight.
Anderson knows Jones won't do this so it's easy to to put this out there without much chance of it ever happening.

Anderson should just fight up if JJ cant cut that much.
If Anderson wants to be talked about in the same breath as Fedor, he should start fighting more dangerous opponents ad opponents that is physically more superior than him.
Anderson is a normal sized guy in a land of midgets. Where Fedor was a normal sized guy chopping down giants.

This is true, Jones probably won't be able to cut more. Anderson can fight at LHW anytime he wants so it would be better there. In the fight against Rashad, Jones was almost 100 Kg/220 lbs with very low bodyfat.
Anyway this fight MUST happen. I'm tired of superfights not happening in boxing because of bullshit, MMA should not go this rout.

It is suppose to happen, but it happens everywhere, in every combat sports, unfortunately.

- Guys, Jones and Anderson are the GOATs...
- Anderson Silva: I don't think I can defeat Jon Jones
- Ben Saunders vs. Brian Warren catchweight fight added to Bellator 72
- ‘Shogun’ Rua’s manager suggests 195-pound catchweight fight with Michael Bisping
