За 12 летнюю карьеру бойца ММА, Харитонов не завоевал ни единого титула в «смешанных единоборствах». В 2004 году у него была возможность выиграть Гран-При Прайда, но Сергей смог дойти лишь до полуфинала, где проиграл Антонио Родриго Ногейре единогласным решением судей.

Также в 2011 году Харитнов принял участие в Гран-При тяжеловесов Страйкфорс, но там тоже дошел только до полуфинала.
