Paul Daley Still Unable To Obtain Visa, Bellator Debut On Hold Empty Paul Daley Still Unable To Obtain Visa, Bellator Debut On Hold

Tue May 07, 2013 5:11 pm
Bellator welterweight Paul Daley was scheduled to be the first fight to take place on Spike TV for Bellator MMA, but here we are weeks after the season finale and weeks out from the beginning of the summer series, and Daley still can’t get in the country. This is all stemming from an assault charge Daley picked up last year and with charges pending the USA decided not to let Daley in the country. Bellator allowed to Daley to fight in the UK to fill in the time between fights, but once again Daley’s Bellator debut will have to wait.

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney told Bleacher Report:

“I talk to Paul via email like once a week and we’ve had a couple of conversations with a solicitor (attorney in England), and we’ve had a bunch of conversations with his solicitor in the U.K. Paul cannot get into the United States right now. The United States will not approve his visa because of the charges pending against him.

So, right now the answer is no (he will not be in Bellator in 2013). God willing that changes. Hopefully he gets over that hump and hopefully we get Paul in here, but right now he’s still in a situation where the charges are pending. He’s still in the situation where he may have to go to trial on those charges so right now we’re in a holding pattern.”
