George Sotiropoulos signs four-fight deal with Titan FC, set to debut in April at Titan 28.

It didn’t take long for former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight George Sotiropoulos to find a new home after being cut by the Vegas-based promotion after dropping four fights (details).
Titan Fighting Championships (Titan FC) CEO Jeff Aronson announced George Sotiropoulos, a 36 year old Australian native, has signed a four-fight deal with the promotion. He is expected to make his debut at Titan 28 in April against a yet-to-be-named opponent.
George Sotiropoulos was a member of Team Serra during the sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) and was picked as one of the early favorites to win the entire season. A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, his strength is primarily on the ground, but he made some real improvements to his stand up to become a more complete fighter.

He rattled off seven straight wins in the Octagon and was in title contention. He was matched up with Dennis Siver at UFC 127 and it was said a victory would have earned him a shot at then lightweight champion, BJ Penn. Unfortunately, he fell short, dropping a unanimous decision.

The loss to Siver was not only his first loss in the promotion, it marked the beginning of a four-fight losing streak. Those losses included back-to-back knockouts to the hard hitting Rafael Dos Anjos and Ross Pearson, as well as a disappointing showing against KJ Noons at UFC 166.

He hopes to reinvent himself inside the TItan cage and get his career back on track. With Titan making some pretty significant signings, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to show that he still is one of the top lightweight fighters in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA).
