Bruno Carvalho vs. Ramazan Esenbaev added to M-1 Challenge 31
Mon Feb 20, 2012 6:36 pm
Another great fight is added to the stacked card of M-1 Challenge 31 tournament that will take place at Ice Palace in St.-Petersburg.
Brazilian veteran Bruno Carvalho (13-5) brings more than eight years of professional fighting experience and high-level grappling and striking skills against young Russian freestyle wrestler Ramazan Esenbaev (3-0).
Member of German team MMA-Spirit, Bruno Carvalho had eight-fight winning streak in middleweight division and well-deserved spot in European TOP-5 middleweight rankings. Move down to 170 made him one of the biggest welterweights in the world, so it doesn’t make the situation easier for any of his opponents. Carvalho is well-known because of his grappling skills, he has black belts both in judo and BJJ and became silver medalist on BJJ European championships in 2007, but his striking skills are on top level too: 6 of his 13 wins came via KO or TKO.
However, his Russian opponent is not intimidated at all. Master of sport in freestyle wrestling, Ramazan Esenbaev has never turned down any fight in his professional career and he is ready to take any challenge from any opponent regardless of his record and achievements. His style is mostly based on his phenomenal strength and wrestling skills, so he is considered as one of the most powerful welterweight fighters in M-1. It makes him feel comfortable in sparring sessions even with much bigger opponents, so he will not be surprised by the size of Brazilian athlete on March 16.

Great card! This is the one that was KO'd by Zaromskis, not the one who lost to Eiji, correct?

It's live on Russia 2 (like ESPN). M-1 has done live streams of fights in Russia in the past for those like us. Here' hoping.

Except for the crazy somersault kick loss here in Sweden Bruno has been legit in the last 3 years.
