So I guess just like most MMA retirements, they don’t last… Nick Penner is said to be returning at WSOF Canada in Edmonton on June 7th!

Here’s more WSOF Canada names for the Edmonton show, who’s date has been confirmed by the Edmonton Combative Sports Commission… Teddy Ash taking on Matt Baker, David Perron versus Cody Krahn, as well as the following names… Dwayne Lewis, Roger Alves, Hakeem Dawodu, and Nick Hrabec! This card is really looking good!

Saturday June 7th marks the WSOF Canada’s return to Edmonton, Alberta. Playing host to this stacked card will be the Edmonton Expo Centre. Headlined by Edmonton’s own Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford (22-4) taking on Las Vegas, Nevada’s Bristol Marunde (13-9) the UFC, TUF, Strikeforce veteran.
Joining the card will be the long awaited return of Nick Penner (11-3) as well as fan favorite knockout artists Tim Hague (16-8) and Dwayne Lewis (13-9).
“We are thrilled to be returning to Edmonton. Our last event was incredible and left was a huge buzz around the city. The show ended with Ryan Ford’s KO of the year, and the rest of the fights delivered. We’re definitely looking to build off of that, and give Edmonton’s fight fans another great night of fights.” Say’s WSOF Canada Executive Darren Owen.
Riding a six fight win streak, Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford has been on a path of absolute destruction. He first captured the AFC Welterweight title in July 2013, and with the kick that was heard around the country, he blew the roof off of the Edmonton Expo Centre Feb.21 2014 taking home the WSOF Canada Welterweight Championship Belt. Ford is a fan favorite and he will be bringing his aggressive style back to the WSOF cage and will be looking for another highlight reel finish.
This isn’t the first time Ford and Marunde have been scheduled to meet. This bout was originally scheduled to take place March 23, 2013 when both fighters had verbally agreed to the bout. However, within hours of accepting, Marunde received a call from UFC matchmaker requesting his services for a fight 3 weeks later. Subsequently Marunde never signed to officially fight Ford and the two traded shots back and forth on Twitter. After a 2 fight stint in the UFC, Marunde finished highly touted prospect Ian Williams (8-2) early in the first round. Marunde is used to fighting in big fights, he took the current #4 world ranked middleweight Jacare Souza (20-3) late into the third round in a Strikeforce bout in 2012.
Also scheduled for the event are some heavy hitters. Nick “The Quiet Assassin” Penner (11-3) returns to action after a 2 fight stint in the UFC where he earned a “Fight of the Night” Bonus. Penner will go to battle against Vancouver BC’s Jordan Tracey who’s coming off a 26 second victory just 2 weeks ago. For the fans who like knockouts, 2 of Canada’s best KO artist are scheduled to compete with Edmonton’s own Heavyweight Tim “The Thrashing Machine” Hague (16-8) and Fort McMurray’s Dwayne “D-Bomb” Lewis (13-9).
Recent Ultimate Fighter contender, Matt DesRoches (4-0), will be making his WSOF Canada debut against Grand Prairies 2013 Athlete of the Year, Spencer Jebb (7-3). Jebb will be looking to keep his current 5 fight win streak intact. Muay Thai sensation Hakeem “Ice” Dawodu (1-0) is returning after a spectacular KO at the last WSOF Canada event. He will be taking on the much more experienced Matt Veal (10-9).
Looking to build off of his WSOF 7 win, one of Canada’s top middleweight prospects, David “Showtime” Perron (6-2) will be in action. Also scheduled to appear on the card is dynamic wrestling standout Roger “The Rock” Alves (2-1), Noah “The Chosen Defender” Ali (5-1), Teddy “Bear” Ash (4-1), Matt “Riot Maker” Baker (9-6), Adam Hunter (3-1) and Nick Hrabec (2-0).
The World Series of Fighting Canada is bringing an exceptional MMA event to Edmonton, Alberta. With an outstanding fight card and top tier production, it will be a World Class event for some of Canada’s best fight fans.
Tickets for World Series of Fighting Canada 2: “Ford vs. Marunde” start at $50 and include cage side seats for $180, available soon at Ticketmaster.ca

EDMONTON, (April. 28, 2014) -
Tickets will be on sale for WSOF Canada 2 “Ford vs Marunde” tomorrow April 29 10:00am MST through www.ticketmaster.ca
In the co-main event a bantamweight title eliminator fight between Stoney Creek, Ontario’s Josh “Gentleman” Hill (9-0) and Kelowna, B.C.’s Mike Adams (7-2). The winner of this fight will have their chance at WSOF Canada gold later this year.
Hill is Canada’s number 1 prospect, he holds a perfect record and is hungry to continue his winning ways. We last saw Hill in action on Season 18 of the Ultimate Fighter. Coming off the show Hill signed a multifight contract with the World Series of Fighting. He has 2 goals, win the WSOF Canadian Title then go for the WSOF World Title. This fight will be his first step towards those achievements.
Adams last fight was for the Aggression Fighting Championship title in 2013 in a Canadian fight of the year candidate. An amazing back and forth battle that ended in the 4th round. Adam’s is looking for redemption and jumped at the opportunity to take on Josh Hill.
“Both of these guys just want to fight best. It’s an absolute pleasure working with fighters like this. Hill has just dominated every opponent in Canada but Adams is a beast. He has some huge wins in his career over the likes of Graham Spencer (10-1) and Kajan Johnson (19-10). I really think the fans are in for a war when these two guys step in the Decagon June 7th.” Said WSOF Canada Executive Darren Owen.

Cool. Better than a week delay on TV. Rather have it at least live on the website.

With the unfortunate injury to Ryan Ford, WSOF Canada 2 which takes place June 7 2014 at the Edmonton Expo Centre, will receive a new main event. Featuring MMA legend David “The Crow” Loiseau versus hard hitting fan favorite Dwayne “D-Bomb” Lewis in a lightheavyweight matchup.
“For sure it’s disappointing to inform everyone that an injury sustained to Ryan Ford during his training camp in Montreal will force him out of his scheduled bout with Bristol Marunde, June 7.” WSOF Canada’s Executive Darren Owen.
“This is the first time in Ryan’s career that he’s had to pull out of a fight. The injury will not keep him out of action for too long but unfortunately long enough that he won’t be able to compete on June 7 in front of his hometown. He’s very disappointed as we all are but this is unfortunately a common occurrence in this sport. I’m hoping the announcement of David Loiseau fighting Dwayne Lewis will keep the fans excited for what already has a card full of great fights and big names.”
The aforementioned matchup will top a billing of exciting fights that will be sure to keep Canadian fight fans on the edge of their seats.
The World Series of Fighting Canada is bringing an exceptional MMA event to Edmonton, Alberta. With an outstanding fight card and top tier production, it will be a World Class event for some of Canada’s best fight fans.
