Sergei Laschenko Killed in Odessa

K-1, SuperKombat and It's Showtime veteran Sergei Laschenko was pronounced dead on April 8th at the Odessa Jewish Hospital in the Ukraine after being shot multiple times, one of the shots hitting his carotid artery. Laschenko is survived by his wife and 18-month old child.

Sergei Laschenko was a very popular Heavyweight kickboxer who trained under some of the best in the world, including Thom Harinck and Mike Passenier. For a period of time Laschenko was without a doubt one of the top ten Heavyweights in the world, which at the time of having such legendary names as Schilt, Aerts, Le Banner, Hari, Ghita and others active it was truly an important accomplishment. In 2011 he won the SuperKombat World Grand Prix and in 2014 he won the KOK World Grand Prix.

There were ups and downs in his career, but Laschenko was truly one of the more memorable Heavyweight stars over the past ten years and his loss will be felt across the kickboxing community.

Very sad. He was still young and probably not even in the prime of his life yet. Thoughts are with his family.

a tragic end to a promising fighter

It all happened about an hour after midnight in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, more specifically in the so-called Jewish Hospital. Lascenko was with friends and because of one girl they came into conflict with the five people. During the conflict there was a shooting in which Lascenko friends where injured. At that moment Laschenko passed with the least injuries and when they arrived at the hospital he was waiting in the waiting room while wounded friends where getting medical attention.

At that moment same people with whom they clashed arrived in the hospital and one of them shoot Laschenko 9 times from which one bullet hit the carotid artery and the Lascenko died instantly. According to some information coming from Ukraine the person who fired at the Laschenko is arrested.

I read that those who did this to Laschenko and his friends where Kavkaz looking and in Kavkaz you have Armenians who like Russians and Georgians who hate Russians and and many others so I dont know but it is possible reason.
