To be truthful in glad that rena had a win before the rematch but to be truthful kanna is still my favourite to win. I will be that person I think they should of waited a couple of years why? So that rena can add more wrinkles and gain more mma fighting experience same with kanna plus imagine if both are champions in which ever organisation?CDF47 wrote:westcott123 wrote:https://youtu.be/7vitSuaml-Y
A new Rizin confessions video yeah Rena had a win in mma so she will hdgr two fights in one month.

Imagine them being champions in say examples these organisations the build up would be so much bigger plus these two would improve 10 fold .
Now I'm not I'm against the rematch coming up now but I do think the hype build up would of been so much bigger

Yeah, that's true. They may have rushed this rematch a bit.

I think the quick rematch is suitable for the short-attention span Japanese fans. In addition, the idea is that if they can fight and it's worthwhile, they should fight. In Japan, the notion is like if something can be done it should be done. It's a bit of a pressure cooker society. But it makes perfect sense why they are rematching now, based on the Japan scene. I suppose it's an apt point that Reina has something to lose.
But, another thing in Japan is as long as she fights well people will still want to see her fight. That is, they care less about wins and losses than good efforts and good performances.
As a devil's advocate point though, I think Kanna Asakura is possibly a bad matchup for Reina, but I also didn't really think Reina showed her all in the first fight. Reina was the bigger star going in. So, the rematch could be a good chance for her to show her worth.
It's a little bit like a rematch clause in boxing. Boxing stars often have rematch clauses, and they often exercise them. I don't know if Reina had a reamatch clause or not--I suppose it's a possibility she did--but it isn't really that weird for a top fighter to want a rematch right away.
The tune-up fight might have been good for her. It's a little bit close to the fight, would have been better a little earlier. But, what it does is it has kept her in the shop, and she'll probably have good conditioning and good training ahead of the fight.
I like both fighters. I'm not a huge fan of woman's MMA--call me sexist--but I like technical female fighters, and they are both very technical. I usually skip through the USMMA women's fights, and if there is a good submission or something, I'll rewind the tape, unless I know of a fighter in a match who is very technical. Asian WMMA fighters tend to be technical.
Actually it isn't sexism much, I don't think. One thing I like about men's MMA is that the fight can end at any moment; but most women don't have knockout power (same with boxing); if they have serious submission skills/grappling skills or are an exception with serious knockout skills, it is more interesting.
I like Kanna Asakura more than I like Reina, but I like them both. I think the rematch will be better than the first fight.
I'm going to make a prediction. Reina wins the rematch.
I think Reina is maybe an underdog and it's a close fight, but I think Reina might have the ability to make some adjustments, and win the fight.
My heart is sort of with Asakura, but as I said I like both of them, and suppose I won't be disappointed either way.

I will say three things
1 even though rizinff doesn't do too many events they sure know how to stack a card
2 so much for the zombies theory of rizin shutting down after an event or two i digress that is what they secretly wish for including bellator going belly up.
3 if you're a promoter you know you're a threat to the ufc empire is when the trash talk from the zombies begin. Also ever notice how since the ufc can not buy out any other promotion their product has gotten stale? Where as other organisations bellator, rizin ff one fc, acb, efn etc are growing .

Great to see Gomi win. Sadly, I've heard someone joke that Guillard took a fall.

Yeah it was really good with some really exciting fights. Got to see the full arsenal as well, soccer kicks, stomps, knees on the ground, elbows (including the 12-6 elbow), and the 10 minute opening round.

Are you telling me there were soccer kicks, stomps, AND 12-6 elbows and nobody was killed? FIXED!

I was Facebook on mmafightingcom yes the comments were saying melvin took a fall for fuck sake seriously. Do they expect everyone just to love the generic brand of the ufc? Or do they expect gomi to saw melvins head off and hold it like a trophy?Rocksoldier84 wrote:CDF47 wrote:Gomi with the KO win!

What do gmma folks think of this? It is true how many of today's "fighters" would fight in a one night tournament or some one two divisions bigger?
