2012: A Disaster year for the UFC

Theres no 2 ways about it! Low ratings, TUF coaches getting injured and never fighting, cancelled events, positive drug tests of big stars, fighters getting injured, Undeserved title shots, crappy watered down cards that no one likes.People will catch on this WWE level MMA that is the UFC and there same tired old model of shit.

This is about as big as the UFC will ever get! I can never see them doing or going beyond Brock Lesnar type buys/ views. No way. UFC is about it's brand not about the stars!

UFC and Zuffa have shot themselves in the foot so many times this year it's been glorious, I've never had as much faith for the world-wide MMA scene as I do now.

I agree with you karamas a bitch and its only goining to get worse for them........well they could try to convince John Cena to do "ultimate fighting" im sure with the zuffa hype machine he could be no 1 in the "rankings" and p4p goat by the end of 2013.

I'm not saying it will be worse in 2013, but 2012 was definitely a shit year. I'm guessing Zuffa will learn from their mistakes..but if they don't....

I really believe Bellator will grow more in 2013 than they have 2009-2012. UFC's main success was spike tv. Bellator can achieve the same. People want exciting fights not shitty boring old UFC and TUF

Bellator is great for USMMA. They run MMA like a sport, have a system for promoting prospects, and have a reasonable management that people can seemingly deal/do business with.

My guess is that UFC has lost a shit ton on money. Dana and the monkeys working at Zuffa has been very quiet lately and the top fighters havent been fighting top fighters. This leads me to think that Zuffa isnt paying top fighters enough money to make it worth their while to fight a dangerous fight. And if Zuffa isnt paying top money, its because Fox and sponsors are having second thoughts, and maybe because Fertitta finances is going down the drain, just like Zuffa.

As per the #1 financial publication Forbes Magazine... both Fertittas lost a combined $600M in net worth in 2012. This is at a time when their Station Casino's is doing much better than any time since 2008. There is no way that Forbes could have devalued their Station Casinos holding because of that.

In 2011 the both Fertittas made Forbes Fortune 400 list of the 400 richest people in America. Forbes financial analysts valued the UFC at approx. $2B. Their share of the UFC is 80% (Dana 10% - Sheik 10%) making their 2011 share value at $1.6B.

That is a 38% loss/devaluation in one year based on a decline in PPV revenues and many other things. THAT IS HUGE! This means that 'any' business is anything but growing or stable. In fact, it 'usually' means the buzzards have taken to the sky circling waiting for a company to take it's last breath.

These numbers are proof from the #1 financial analyst publication in the world that UFC revenues have crashed. It also means this seriously affects the companies ability to find financing through credit rating drops and much higher debt to equity ratios. It has been previously publish that the UFC had $500 in debt. That put that is .5 to 1 debt to equity. That is a crazy position for any person let alone a company. It's anything but financially sound.

This is no @frontrowbrian bs. It is real. The UFC-dependant media is either afraid to cover this or they are to stupid to be able to put these things together. My guess is both.

This also means that Dana lost $77M in the value of his UFC shares which where worth $200M in 2011. Could be the Palms Casino reads Forbes and decided to cut his credit in half after that.

I think its due to the fact that their popularity is fading a bit amongst the casuals, just today I was at the store in the once popular ufc dvds are now on clearance 2 bucks a pop needless to say I passed.

Zuffa and the UFC are not going anywhere. 2012 was terrible yes, but that means nothing as far affecting Zuffa and the UFC.

Doesn’t it? 2012 means quite a bit for them. UFC has had a very obvious downgrade this year in viewerships, attendance, quality of fights, and everything else.

UFC hasn’t been very successful with Fox this year and im sure the head honchos at Fox wont be bullied around by little mafia Zuffa. If Fox decides to “FIRE” Zuffa from its channels then UFC will see itself either lower its price just to stay on a known channel or go with an unknown smaller and less popular channel. I doubt Zuffa will be welcomed back by its old TV partners.

2012 is also when other promotions started to strike it big in other regions. M1 has fully established itself in Europe, OneFC and other Asian promotions in Asia. More competition that’s out of reach of Zuffa is bad news, since this gives fighters more chance to move around and demand more from promotions. They aren’t stuck between Zuffa and nothing.

Thats where your wrong, many guys here love other promotions around the glove. Hence the "Global" in GlobalMMA. This forum is about spreading the sport of MMA. The death of Zuffa is good in the long term, it means that promotions all over the world can thrive, fighters have more options, new upcoming fighters given a chance, and more MMA for the fans like us.

Forums like Shitdog who thrive of zombies wont fare well IMO.
