hw prospects abroad finale part 1

remember i did these a while back so if fighters have already been signed to a NA org then just say where you think they should go in global mma thanks enjoy.

ok so we have come to the final two blogs with IMO the best and most note able hw's outside the ufc and bellator that should be exposed very soon so look out for all the following fighters ok lets get started as these last 2 are a little lengthy but for sure worth a read.



Jared'Big Show'Roshalt 25yrs 6'2 259lbs record of 4-0

fighting out of team takedown/kobra kai jujitsu

highschool wrestling record of 150-5,winningest HW at oklahoma state,4x division 1 qualifier,2010 NCAA runner up,NCAA division 1 wrestler

He has an explosive wrestling game he has good power takedowns and good top control using good gnp to set up submissions or just to finish.His stand up is a work in progress but it isn't too shabby either he possesses good hand speed and power in his boxing and had good head movement and foot work.He has improving clinch work with good dirty boxing and strong kneese.But it his ability to change levels and once he wraps around you its almost certain you hit the mat.

 he has a super strong base to start with and has the skill to advance quickly with his improving hands his main downfall is his lack of quality opponents but he has another fight coming up and if he crushes the next can im sure he will be picked up by a major org so look out for him guys.Also training at a place like team takedown with jake roshalt,johnny hendricks,and shane roller your gonna be a very high level grappler not just in grappling terms but i mean as in practical mma use making him a very bright star.


Nick 'Afrozilla'Gaston 29yrs 6'4 255lbs record of 5-1

fighting out of 8+8 striking systems

KOTC vet newly signed to dream,featured on mtv's bully beatdown

note able wins over darrill schoonover and loss to tyler east

He possesses a very solid all around game making him a tricky opponent,he has powerful hands with a underestimated ground game his wrestling is decent and his jujitsu is at a good level but he has been working on both.He also has a strong clinch game with good dirty boxing/kneese and great slams and takedowns making him very fun to watch.He is very agile and light on his feet and very fast in the scramble able to dodge punches and sub attacts alot of the time.

 he has great skill in all the important aspects of mma making him dangerous in every position and making him tough to finish in every position.Again the main thing is he hasn't face a high level of comp but he has face decent levels of comp and done well.He has recently been blowing up in magazines as a top prospect to pick up leading to his signing with dream hopefully he dominates a couple guys then heads back states side for a contract with a us promotion.



Akhmed Sultanov 30yrs 6'0 230lbs record of 10-4

fighting out of Legion mma

note able wins over alexander volkov and eric pele loss to rob broughton and roger lloret

Good overall ground game his stand up is basically brawling style boxing but has power and can ko you with one hit.he has a decent clinch game with good punches and takedowns but it is his top game that is impressive he has good gnp and has great submissions especially triangles and keylocks.

 he has a deadly ground game and an improving standup game he has the tools to become a top Hw he just needs a few tweaks.He has fought some solid guys and done very well or lost he just needs better game planning but lets hope he makes the move from the european mma companys to the US like many other russian and european fighters are doing.



Chad'Brave Warrior'Corvin 26yrs 6'5 253lbs record of 6-0

fighting out of Etown beatdown

was signed to the ufc but released due to injury,undefeated in amateur and pro career all fights never made it out of the first round or second minute.

note able win over scott barrett

He is a stand out wrestler with heavy hands and an aggressive nature,he has explosive power and all the tools to finish fights fast and effectively.he has looked better and better in each outing.

my overall grade is a a- he has all the right tools and attitude to take him far its just a matter of staying healthy and getting back into a major organization.He hasn't faced top level comp but has shown great potential only time will tell with this guy.



Justin'Viking'Wren 24yrs 6'3 265lbs record of 10-2

fighting out of Grudge training center

ultimate fighter HW cast alumni,noteable loss to jon madsen since loss has gone 3-0

He has solid wrestling with powerful fast takedowns and great gnp.He has an improving sub game and also a improving boxing game with decent power and good accuracy.his clinch game is weak but his takedowns make up for it usually getting him out of trouble.

 he has the powerful base to start with and has been building steadily since his loss to madsen.He has had problems wit stronger wrestlers but had rededicated his ground game and has shown much impovements.Only prob is he had a jesus finding adventure to a poor country and has since gone around doing missionary work hopefully he returns to the us and fighting very soon a great mma prospect.



Viniscius'Spartan'Queiroz 29yrs 6'7 239lbs record of 5-2

fighting out of Chute boxe academy

debut in ufc against broughton in loss but tested positive for steroids and was released.

All his wins come via tko or ko very viscous and aggressive.

This guy has deadly standup and when in shape and clean he is a beast with kneese and elbows and his brutal kickboxing able to ko you with all limbs.He has a sturdy chin and an iron will he has a good ground game mostly defensive but can throw some bombs or submit you if chosen.

 he has great stand up and a good ground base it is his drug use that down grades him but if he was already in the ufc and on there radar you know he has serious potential i mean coming from chute boxe alone says alot those guys are all beasts look for him to come stateside again soon.



David'Mayan Assassin'Oliva 28yrs 5'11 238lbs record of 6-1

fighting out of Freestyle Academy

He is a great wrestler who had excellent controlling skills wether it be in the clinch or on the ground he can ground you tire you and wear you out to a finish.He is not very well rounded his striking is pretty weak but he knows how to play to his strenghths and the rest of his game is evolving rapidly.he has good gnp and good subs and good clinch work as far as dirty boxing goes.

he has a solid wrestling background and is improving every fight but he hasn't faced top comp and needs to get a better standup game but he is fairly young and has shown the potential to be great so keep an eye out for him.



Chris'Big Buck'Birchler 24yrs 6'3 248lbs record of 1-0

fighting out of AMA fight club

2x division 1 NCAA qualifier,4-0 amateur record

He is an excellent wrestler with un predictable takedowns and good power and technic in his takedowns overall.Great ground control with improving gnp and good sub game.He has a limited but good striking game with good clinch work and takedowns from the clinch.

 he has a super solid base and the cardio to kill almost all heavyweights but it is his lack of mma experiance overall that plagues him.He has shown alot of progress in training camp and is still very young making him a very exciting prospect.Look for him to get a few more low level fights then explode on the mainstage in a major promotion so watch out for him.


Jan Jorgensen 27yrs 6'2 259lbs record of 3-0

fighting out of The Pit Elevated Fight Team

former byu football player,and high school wrestler

He has a powerful and surprisingly technical ground game great subs and gnp good postioning and balance as well.decent stand up but a great clinch game god dirty boxing and kneese as well as sweeps and takdowns making him a very versatile fighter.good chin and improving boxing skills.

 he has alot of great skill and all the potential in the world he works hard and improves alot in each fight he just hasn't faced high level comp yet but hopefully he will win a few and make the jump to the us.



Darrill Schoonover 26yrs 6'2 247lbs record of 11-5

fighting out of Fighters Forge MMA

ultimate fighter HW alumni,former sharkfights hw champ

He has a good wrestling game and has impoved his takedowns ans takedown defense as well as his boxing.He has a good clinch game and a improved sub game making him a threat all around.

he has alot of solid skill and is improvng his weaknesses alot but he hasnt fought top comp but is young and has the stuff to make a rebound and be a top hw contender.



Adam Parkes 30yrs 6'3 242lbs record of 3-0

fighting out of Wolfslair

He has an extensive muay thai and karate background making his striking not only diverse and deadly but quick and un predictable with accuracy and power to ko you when required.He has an aggressive powerful but accurate style,with his hands and feet.He is a main training partner and sparring partner for cheick kongo making him a warrior in his own right lol.good comprehensive ground game but wants to bang.

solid a he has deadly fast and powerful strikes along with high level training partners and and ever evolving ground game making him a top prospect.he hasnt faced top level comp but with a win or 2 look to see him in a stateside promotion soon.



Tony'Kryptonite'Lopez 38yrs 6'5 223lbs record of 29-8

fighting out of Team Oyama

former KOTC lhw and hw champ at the same time for a while.

had a 2 year 16 fight win streak.note able wins over kyle kingsbury,joey beltran,darrill schoonover,shamil abdurahimov

He has heavy hands with good speed and power with good footwork and set ups for strikes.a good boxer/brawler able to bang with the best until he wants to take you down.has a good ground game with decent gnp but good subs.all around a threat very experianced.

 he has the all around solid package to make him a great add to any org right now.its his age that really is a bad thing but he still performs at a high level and would make a nightmare for alot of mid level hw's.



Gabriel Salinas-Jones 27yrs 6'1 260lbs record of 5-1-1

fighting out of The Olympian Center

not able wins over Bryan Humes and Zak Jensen

This guy has a decent overall stand up game with good boxing and limiter kicks and also a good clinch game good punches and kneese.But it is his ground game that is his strong point with great overall grappling ability he has good gnp and great subs with good power and technic making him a difficult opponent to deal with.

 he has a great ground game and an evolving stand up game making him a well rounded monster but his lack of high level comp is his draw back but a few more fights and you might catch him in a major us org.

Lopez really should be taken off but he could make some interesting fights in one fc.
Schoonover and Gabriel Salinas Jones are more raw but still have a lot of potential.

As for the rest a lot of untapped talent adding instant depth to ksw or one fc some guys m-1 bound.

Loved all the input on part 1 great stuff. I'm interested to see what you think of these fine fellows LOL.

Nick 'Afrozilla' Gaston: Seen some of his KOTC fights a while back but nothing recently.  He hasn't fought in 2 years so we may never see him in a bigger org.

Akhmed Sultanov: Saw him get beat by Smoldarev by decision not that long ago.  He's got a lot of subs. on his record and he finished Bellator HW champ with an armbar in the past.   He should take on some of the fighters that are losing in M-1 HW GP to work his way up the M-1 ranks.

Chad 'Brave Warrior' Corvin:  Hasn't fought in 3 1/2 years.

Justin 'Viking' Wren:  Hasn't fought in 3 years.

Viniscius 'Spartan' Queiroz: He made the G-MMA HW contenders ranking list in the past after winning his quarterfinal fight in the Bellator HW tournament.  Volkov took him out with ease though.  Would be cool to see him in another future HW tournament.

David 'Mayan Assassin' Oliva: Saw his fight in KSW which was over 1 year ago where he lost to Bedorf.  Not real impressed with that fight but he does have a win over G-MMA number 2 HW Gluhov.  He needs to fight more frequently.  He hasn't fought in over a year and before that 1 1/2 years.

Chris 'Big Buck' Birchler:  Not familiar with him but at 4-0 seems like a decent prospect.  He fought recently too so he is still active.

Jan Jorgensen: Not familiar with him but at 6-0 he seems like a good prospect as well.  He also had a recent fight.

Darrill Schoonover: Rampage's boy "Titties" from TUF.  Not overly impressed with him.  He is 3-5 in his last 8 fights.  Needs some work.  Not prospect level.

Adam Parkes:  Not familiar with him.  He just fought weeks ago and lost and is now 3-1.

Tony 'Kryptonite' Lopez: KOTC king for a while in two divisions.  Recently lost to Trevor Prangley.  He would be solid for any organization to pickup as a outside UFC gatekeeper at LHW or HW.

Gabriel Salinas-Jones:  Two straight losses and is now 5-2.  He hasn't fought in 1 year so if he is taking the sport seriously, he needs to pick up the activity, especially this early in his career.  From what I can remember of his SF fights, I wasn't overly impressed.

Birchler has looked less impressive with each passing fight. He's like the Seth Mitchell of MMA.

Jorgensen looks really good, I think he'll be a really good fighter in the future. Hopefully he stays active.

Only like Salinas-Jones because he was a part of Virginia Tech's excellent strength and conditioning team. Outside of that, I don't think he'll really accomplish all too much.

Also, Oliva could afford to lose some fat and put a little muscle on. He's already got pretty good wrestling for someone as small as he is, if he gets in better shape, I think he could possibly be a top 15-20 worldwide HW.

I'm also pretty sure Wren is done fighting for the time being. Last time I saw, he was doing missionary work in Africa.

Jared Roshalt is a good prospect.  Been watching his fights on AXS TV and he has some potential. 

Good job with the HW write ups.  HW is my favorite division as well.  It was a very interesting read.  Thanks.
